Surprisingly, I like this idea. EA's AFL license recently expired, and everyone wants a 2K football game again.

This is where companies need to be taking advantage of XBLA and PSN. As a disc this game may not be a good idea now, since the AFL is just coming back and trying to regain its footing and fanbase. But as a downloadable network game, I think it would be a good idea.

Keep the team small and the game small. Go the Tecmo Bowl Throwback route.

I wish they had some more years with the APF legends. Maybe a re-release of the game on XBLA for $30 or $20 that includes commonly discussed updates.

^^^ While I wouldn't mind that if they fixed some of the issues APF had, I'd really want them to just make a whole new game, minus the graphical and concept mistakes they made with APF.

Either Arena or UFL as an XBL/PSN game. I wouldn't want to pay more than $20 for either though.

A 2k Arena game is a nice thought, but it really wouldn't be what you guys want. Think about how different the AFL is from the NFL. It's not the same game. It'd probably be fun in it's own right, but it sure as hell wouldn't satisfy anyone who happens to be tired of Madden and longing for "what could have been" with 2k5/2k8.

I actually enjoy Arena Football very much. I was a huge fan back when it was on NBC and when it was on ESPN years before that. I couldn't watch it on ESPN on their last stint because the broadcasts were so terrible.

I'm not that concerned with it being a Madden replacement, I just want more options in the market. I'd take Arena, UFL, or fictional, as long as it's a good game.

I say why not.

There was a guy from EA Canada who was trying to work a game out. He got up to the modeling/prototype stage, but last I heard he shelved the project.

If they just did a generic game with the customization they are putting into Backbreaker, the game could have any league we wanted to make.

CFL 2K11. I prefer the NFL football over the CFL, but if 2K developed a CFL game I'd buy it for sure!

Looks like 2k is going hard at getting the NFL license again. Too bad it's not til 2012 tho.
