Imagine all this customization in a high school football game. It would be amazing. I think that is the route to go with this series.

How Backbreaker can compete with Madden.
The customization in Backbreaker is pretty impressive, I must admit. And the engine is phenomenal. However, these fictional pro teams will just never sell, sorry. If Backbreaker wants to compete in the football market they need to secure a niche that has never been explored.

Add presentation, new camera, better franchise and BB will over take Madden easy. Gimmicks like this will only be a waste of money. -

Re: How Backbreaker can compete with Madden.
Pretty much this.
Also if you think about the number of offenses and defenses in the NFL it's pretty limited compared to College and HS football. Imagine all the formations, playbooks, and AI that would have to be written to even approach that level of football.
BB needs to focus on getting NFL football right first. And after they get that down then the can worry about putting in all the crazy formations and schemes that HS's use.
Also with the customization tool you can create HS teams. And it's not like they are going to licensce players names from highschools, so you are back to the same problem as generic teams ( nobody knows what player X is capable of).
All in all a bad idea for BB. Maybe a good idea for another polished football game like NCAA or Madden to try, but BB isn't even close to being there yet.Comment

Re: How Backbreaker can compete with Madden.
What Backbreaker needs to do is to try to be the American Football version of Winning Eleven soccer. No gimmicks like high school teams or anything, just focus on gameplay and customization. If they put out a superior game, people will eventually notice.Comment

Re: How Backbreaker can compete with Madden.
IMO a horrible idea. Simply make a better, more complete game than Madden and you will crush it. Majority of madden players are looking for a good alternative already, it's just not there.
Add presentation, new camera, better franchise and BB will over take Madden easy. Gimmicks like this will only be a waste of money.
I pretty much agree, even without real players if they could make the game fully editable including players and add all of the above this game would beat out Madden, the engine is by far superior, however everything else isn't.
This game has to compete with Madden because the same people who would buy Madden or a 2k football game are the same ones who would buy backbreaker because most people on this site are either huge fans of football video games or lonely and we are the only ones tracking games like this being released........Comment

Re: How Backbreaker can compete with Madden.
What many are starting to take notice is that by having fictional teams and the tools to create any league you desire is better then having a game that is lets say just NFL or NCAA. those games have its limits.
Where a game like BB that gives you the tools to make your own league is more entertaiing and wide open. Yes more work is involved, but it is very enjoyable to create your won league.
You have guys making NFL, NCAA, world leagues, and anything else that comes to mind.
All in one game.
BB does not need NFL teams, they just need to nail the fundementals down, and once they do that. It will sell very well.Simply *Magic* Just click the link and Watch :)

Re: How Backbreaker can compete with Madden.
agree with Tyrant 100%! You cannot compete with Madden..well because it's not really fair. If NFL license is open then that's a whole new story. They can coincide though. Let's not forget this is the 1st release...and a damn good one in my book!Comment

They are much phenominal and good at skills.

Re: How Backbreaker can compete with Madden.
What they need is to expand. They need to keep their core developing group, but they need people to bring them football info. Such as plays, uniform designs, rules, commentary, cheerleaders... OMG the cheerleaders!
Anyway, they're doing pretty good making the game and I think they got caught up making it and not actually playing it alot. But, yeah, they need good 'ole U.S. football knowledge. And they need to know how serious this game (football) is for us. Football is 1st and foremost overhere, not soccer. Even the smallest kid can give you little details on the sport and I think they overlooked that a bit.Comment
