3. Madden 05 (don't know why it was just my personal favorite)
4. Bill walsh college football

Honorable mentions go to 2k5 (didn't play as much as madden that year but I did enjoy it and understand why so many love it)
Backbreaker- could bolt to the top of my list with a few minor fixes
Joe montanas football- mel gray was a god

This is really a question that can go two ways;

What are the best football games for their time? or

What are the best football games if you played them today?

Tecmo Superbowl I had the most fun with being that they actually had all the teams/players,season,stats and all for the first time of any football game.

Joe Montana games and the first Gameday were really good back then.

If you played these or Tecmo Superbowl now you wouldn't think they're good though.

2K5 is the best of all-time and still very good.Just a little dated graphically,franchise isn't very good and if you played many hundreds of games over the past six years(like I have)-a little worn out.I could play it blindfolded and tell you the result through the play called and timing.

Madden '10 is the best Madden at this time,good game but still has many aggravations.

Backbreaker is very good in some ways,needs major editing to make Cpu competant though and w/ a good patch could be great.

I forgot to add that Madden '08 for the PC,not for the next-gen by any means(terrible game),is very good with help from the mod community at football-freaks.com.

I still do play Tecmo Super Bowl. A lot. With updated rosters. You can Google how that's possible, because I don't think I can tell you here. Piracy and whatnot.

It's just as fun now as when I was a kid. 100 yard throws, zig zagging down the field, I love all the game's dumb quirks. It's simply the most fun sports game I've played.
