No... They would have to start working on the engine and such by now, unless, for some reason, they have one already made...Football: Denver Broncos
Baseball: Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs
Hockey: Allentown Phantoms
NCAA: The College of William and Mary Tribe
William and Mary Class of 2018! -

I sure hope that they do make a game. I wouldn't mind not having the exact college names, stadiums, jerseys, et cetera if the game plays well.
For example, if they wanted to have the Norman Sooners wearing crimson and cream and playing in a two sided stadium, I would absolutely love it as long as the game played well.Comment

EA Sports needs competition. I sure hope 2K can get its hands in it and give a product that plays well. Maybe EA would actually create a product worth spending $60 on.Comment

I'm getting a little tired of hearing this argument, because it seems more important to get EA off their duffs then for somebody else to actually come up with a great football game.Comment

Re: Do you think 2k will make a NCAA game next year?
I think 2K is waiting to see how all this turns out. I would be surprised if they weren't already developing a football engine in case the opportunity presented itself to re-enter the football market. 2K has too much talent over there not to develop a "football engine in waiting".
At the same time, I never understood why 2K never took the PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) route? I thought the premise behind APF 2K8 was a bad idea. A game solely based around legends, with limited customization options didn't seem like a recipe for success. It got boring to soon. I think 2K made major mistakes on 3 fronts with APF 2K8:
1. Customization: Everything should have been editable (i.e. backbreaker) including stadiums.
2. The use of legends: The cost to secure the licensing for the these legends could have been put toward production and marketing cost. Which would have made the game much better. Having legends as your main focus/attraction especially in sports games is a bad idea. Because like legendary athletes, it eventually gets old. And having to choose gold, silver and bronze players before games got really annoying, really quickly in my opinion.
3. Not releasing the game on PC: Releasing the game on PC would have extended the life of the game and enhanced it aesthetically strictly because of the modding possibilities and possible online play communities that would have formed around it. Look what modding communities have done with PC sports games like PES, Fifa, MLB 2K and the NBA 2K series. By creating a sports game on the PC platform, you essentially make it the highlander of games, it becomes immortal. If NFL 2K5 would have been released on the PC platform, and it could be modded, it would be as relevant today as it was when it was released, exclusive license or not.
