We've released a few updates over the past 3 months.

The game now contains a roster for 2011, so you can now play as any team, or start any league, using teams from 1950 all the way to the most recent 2011 rosters.

We've also tweaked several aspects of the engine to increase statistical accuracy. We've got some awesome feedback on our site which has helped tune the engine in most categories to within 1% of NFL averages. (Big shouts out to Sprint Right Option and Ben E Lou for their analysis!)

I really want to delve into this game, but I've tried starting up a 1990 career and no matter what I do, I cant find a way to get the correct players on the right teams. I swear I get frustrated every time and just quit the game. If this gets resolved, and players go to the correct teams, I could be interested. Or if there was even a way to customize it and send everyone where they belong. Unfortunately, I havent found a way thus far

I'd be happy to look into it.

When creating a league you set the starting year to 1990. Then on the third tab you select the "Historical Player" radio button, select 1990 as the import year, and then since you want to play with accurate rosters you need to select "Assign Player To Team" option at the bottom of the third tab.

What team are you trying to play as? In some scenarios the players don't match up with the team correctly because the team names are different in history (i.e. Phoenix Cardinals versus. Arizona Cardinals)

I'll try to put together a patch to fix these scenarios, but other than that it should be working as designed.
