Can someone please tell me why Backbreaker still will have a better physics system than Madden NFL 13? The Euphoria engine that Backbreaker has is better than an physic engine that Madden has used and will use this year. I honestly do not understand how hard it is to make a game feel authentic. Many other sports games gameplay is a lot better than Madden and the physics of those games are simply better and it makes a huge difference.

Have you ever played Backbreaker? That game felt like a mess because of the physics engine. As soon as a player got hit the ragdoll physics would kick in and it's just not realistic. The Infinity engine actually takes into account muscle tension and other things that make it great for football. The Backbreaker engine is great, just not for football.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago Blackhawks -
Re: Physic Engine
I think Backbreaker tuned some of the RTP into their ball-physics. Also, they make momentum and the RTP really tally into the contact more, meanwhile Madden's own is simply applying it on top of the tackle animations to avoid warping/player morphing.Comment

Re: Physic Engine
backbreaker was a joke of a game. That was an example off TOO much ragdoll physics for football, looked terrible. It seemed cool because it was the first time physics like that were in football but it looked so messy.
Also, you are quick to judge madden 13 physics yet you have never played it. Might want to do that.
P.S. you said have used, EA football has never used physics engine until now. (assuming real time)Comment

Re: Physic Engine
I guess what the original poster means is Backbreaker did a good job of capturing the feeling of violence in each play. True smash mouth football.
It was severely lacking in other areas. It feels stale with no play by play commentary. Players fatigue and get injured and the lack of that takes away from realism. There should be far more play selection...They didnt even try to get reverses to work in that game. I could go on.
This much is true. Monopolies hurt the consumer but a great for business. Backbreaker was actually the first next gen football game. Madden was simply polished graphics but certainly last gen gameplay..no question about it
If Natural Motion had the resources and market to produce a BB 2 and BB3 then they may have overtaken Madden...
They just made some critical decision that hurt the game..like passing for instance..there isnt enough time to toggle receivers..they should just map buttons for each receiver..that would have fixed some problems.
I do like the view and being close to the action...QBs dont always see the entire field..they have to anticipate and know where each receiver will be on teh field.
Runners have almost know field of vision..very tunnel vision liek so easy, perhaps too easy to get blind sided.
Oh..and the small steps to get in a the right hole just werent there...Felt like I was on rails..I could move a little bit left or right but not much to get, precisely in the right hole.
So yes..room for improvement but tackles and running animations all felt so so right.

Re: Physic Engine
If Backbreaker would have put in some extra cameras, and not used the futuristic uniforms, the game would have sold lots more. If it had better presentation too, it would have been the future of football games IMO with some tweaking to the physics engine in BB2Comment
