Yeah, barring not only a release of APF2K8's source code but also the XBOX Developer's Kit, a full-blown mod to 2K Sports football simply is not happening. That wasn't what was proposed, however.

I think making an open-source football game would be fun for those involved. It'd be a hell of an effort to put anything reasonable together, however.

Did anything ever come of all that pomp and circumstance he was touting? I don't recall seeing anything substantial ever come out from that project which may or may not have existed.

Nope. Probably turned out to be much more difficult than he thought, and he gave up.

It sounds like a cool idea and I'd try it out provided that there would be some way to play Canadian rules, arena rules, and American rules all three.
