Kick or Recieve?

I have always preferred kicking to start the game....I like getting the ball at the half (in case I'm down). If I win the coin flip I always chose kick.

I have always thought I was in the minority, but after playing a ton of games on Live I have found many others like to kick also. So it made me curious....

Do you prefer to kick or receive to start the game?
Kick

Re: Kick or Recieve?

I'm gonna give the real life answer first then the video game answer.

real life: It depends on the type of team you've got. If you've got a team that's more defensive oriented then it's better to kick the ball so then you can have your D started and your offense can get the ball in the 2nd half if you're trailing. If you've got a team that scores a lot and doesn't have a great defense then I prefer to recieve it because it's not going to matter anyways. There's still gonna be plenty of points scored.

videogame: I like to recieve as I find it easier to try and score first and build on that.

I would kick-off first because if you are down at the half you get the ball and a chance to equalize the score.

Re: Kick or Recieve?

In videogames, playing online I kick, because with 5 minute quarters you don't want to be losing at halftime, and then giving the other team the ball. When I play 7 minute quarters offline I usually receive, and in real life if I was a coach I'd always receive.

Receive normally, defer and take the wind on a windy day (>10 mph). When I had a really dominating defense in NCAA I deferred more often and got good field position.

Re: Kick or Recieve?

I think most people like to kick. Nothing like getting the ball at halftime when you're already up.

Exactly, I see it like this, you either get the ball when you have a lead and thats great, or get it when you really need it when your losing come the 2nd half

but on a side not I think every man would rather recieve
