Re: Axis Football 18 Details

Dedication I tell ya! ...yet another update - they work through hurricanes for us!
...............
Axis Football 2018 v2.6 is now live!
posted by Axis Games @ 09:56PM on September 15, 2018
Folks,

Thank you for your continued feedback. We've made a number of slight adjustments to improve the quality and realism. If your update doesn't automatically download, make sure you exit out of Steam and load it back up.

Here's a list of changes in v2.6:

Adjusted the blocking algorithm to be framerate independent. You should now see much more consistent blocking. This should have a positive effect on the number of sacks and rushing yards during a game to bring them more in line with simulation football.
Adjusted catching in coverage to be more realistic
Added Steam Controller support for saving files when using the player editor
Fixed a bug with the Ignore Controller toggle that was causing players to not be able to use the keyboard after turning this on. Whenever you turn this toggle on or off, we recommend that you close out of the game and open it again.
Adjusted some of the animation transitions to make them smoother
Fixed an issue with a Pistol formation run play

PS - We are aware that there are still some lingering issues with penalties - especially when a penalty occurs during a change of possession/score. We are working on those and will get them fixed ASAP.

PPS - We are currently experiencing heavy amounts of rain and wind from Florence. We have not lost power, but many of the homes around us have. We hope to be able to continue to put out fixes as needed but wanted to let everyone know of our current weather situation.

Thanks again for everyone's support!

Best,

-Danny

Re: Axis Football 18 Details

Thanks redwolf for the continued updates as I have been reading a lot of your threads on the current state of the game as I am trying to determine whether to buy.

Although it is absolutely great developer support we are seeing post release, it does seem very puzzling the amount of obvious things that seemed to have slipped past through testing. Certainly realize no game is perfect, but reading about the passing game being way too good and the running game not so good, along with other glitches, just seems like that stuff would have been caught by the play testers before release...and then the developer does some quick tweaks which I hope are fully tested so they don't impact other parts of the game with those kind of quick adjustments. Again, realize other games have similar issues so maybe not something to be concerned with.

Continue to watch your feedback to help me with my buying decision....

They probably needed better testers - like Redwolf on their team lol.... After release 2.6 the game is a ton better and would definitely recommend it. It's not Madden in terms of depth but this game is for real. Nice and easy franchise mode, 53 man rosters with free agents, stats, injuries, salary cap and practice squad. The game play is getting a lot better now. Get the game...

First off, thanks for your vote of confidence armyofone

And it's hard for me to comment and probably not appropriate for me to regarding beta testing (no I have not been a beta tester for this year's edition) - but I do know there is literally so many things they have to look at. For me, I have ONLY been looking at on-field game play to this point and merely scratched the surface with franchise (just having a look with how it operates this year -- and it's great btw, imho).

But honestly, know this -- if the v2.3 (launch version) was what we were left with, I wouldn't be playing the game and go into franchise -- it wasn't good enough for me (being a stat monkey and a realism freak, lol). HOWEVER, now at the v2.6 point which is where we are at as of this typing, I would honestly recommend the game, if you know what you are buying..and I would invest my time into franchise and really enjoy the game. Danny and crew are working very hard on it, and as of right now, it's very decent (and no, there is no sliders to tweak things - that is one thing that we are having Danny do for us as he continues to fine tune).

So bottom line -- it has progressed immensely over these three patches and is now pretty decent and fun (but still stuff to be cleaned up and fine tuned -- and they are also limited with a number of things with the current 3-D engine - not everything is going to be perfect and some things can't really be altered given that limitation -but the plan is to invest all profits to next year's version and upgrade the 3-D engine if the game sells well). But it is definitely worth buying and supporting in my opinion -- and seriously, the developers have exactly the right attitude towards consumers and feedback -- and they, as can be seen already, are extremely dedicated...and you won't get a developer here telling you that, "If you don't like it, build your own game"(unlike another game) - these guys are so far from that and are looking for feedback, ideas, and things to improve upon and fix.

And I understand your concern with the patching -- but to my knowledge, NO new issues/bugs have been created with the patches, and look at it this way - if you look at the NOW, v2.6 is miles better than v2.3. These guys are doing good things and definitely deserve support. It's only $20 and has a good franchise mode and is fun and pretty decent.

...now I have to go out of town for several days, but there is also some great guys advising and helping and giving feedback on the forums there (several of which have helped me with developing slider sets from Madden's PC past (armyofone above being one) - (we are like realism and stat freaks, lol) or from the old version (2006) of Maximum football, or indeed from Front Page Football Pro group. Get the game, have fun with it, and don't feel nervous about giving the developer feedback and suggestions -- it's a friendly bunch...plus we need more football alternatives.

I really like this one, it gets my seal of approval, and I hope you do too.

Happy Gaming

Re: Axis Football 18 Details

.................
Version 2.7 is now live. Check out the change log below:

QBs will now properly transiting to running/scrambling as soon as they cross the line of scrimmage instead of 2-3 yards past it. The defense will also react to the QB crossing the line more realistically.
Adjusted how punt returners line up to catch punts so that they miss fewer of them.
Adjusted the speed of Baltimore's RBs, they were far too low.
Fixed a bug that was causing the extra point to be bypassed when a penalty occured on a TD.
Adjusted the kicking game a bit. Some kicks were falling way too short.
Starting funds for franchises are now based on that team's current salary totals. Teams with better players will start with less money and vice versa.

We are aware of additional bugs that are still present - mostly surrounding penalties. We are continuing to work to fix these.

Best,

Danny
