Why Don't the Axis and Maximum Football studios merge?

They could but it still might not be enough manpower to produce a solid football game as far as gameplay.

I honestly think their best route would have been to keep focusing on great depth in franchise modes and etc, but make the gameplay and presentation look more like old school football games. There’s just no way these smaller dev teams can come close to an AAA football game, there’s just too much attention to detail needed. If these smaller devs just make the games feel and play like Tecmo Bowl, NES Play Action or if anyone was fortunate enough to play Joe Montana on PC, it would be received a lot better from the public than trying to make a current gen Madden game on an indie budget imo.

An old school football gaming experience with the current franchise depth and customization would be money. Just go for more of a Pro Fire Wrestling look with the retro feel (which may even be easier for them to do) and I believe it’d give them more appeal.

Yeah I know Spear listed the obstacles but I'd wager if there was serious mutual intent from both studios to merge/collaborate then it would happen.

However, as he stated, that's not the case as they both have their own path, focus and direction.

Hopefully, we eventually see the two games reach the level that both teams envisioned.
