Re: Axis Football 2020 is now live on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux)

I am playing my first game right now.

Miami at Chicago in the snow.

4th quarter we are down 14-9 in what has been a biter defensive battle.

Early impressions:

Broadcast camera is not the camera of choice. I am playing with the traditional god cam but you have zoom and height options with it which is very nice to get it where you want.

You can control the game speed, the clock speed.

I am already working on sliders (not a lot of sliders but enough to work with in terms of penalties and injury frequency. there are no gameplay sliders.

I am playing on All-Pro

Coach Mode. And coach mode on this is so far a lot of fun. Pure simulation in terms of random dice roll and ratings dictating everything.

This is not a game to go ooooh and ahhhh on graphics or animations. This is a pure simulation with a deep franchise mode which I will get into here soon.

But as far as gameplay for Coach Mode and I would not suggest this is a game to play yourself (Madden is far better at that...not even a conversation). but to play a true coach/franchise mode. Call plays, watch them play out, build your team.

This I can tell will satisfy that itch big time. A great job by this team to really make big strides in terms of franchise mode, and dice ratings based results.

More impressions about franchise mode to come as we get into this deeper.

But for $30 I am enjoying it already.

Totally fictional world in terms of players, but fully editable with names, uniforms etc. I am going to stick with the stock fictional rosters and uniforms for now.

Re: Axis Football 2020 is now live on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux)

Game one is in the books.

Miami falls on the road to Chicago 27-16

Penalties and drops plagued Miami on offense and on defense Chicago RB Paul Gill shredded me for 45 carries and 177 yards 2TD.

So some observations. The CPU is good. However you will not see RB rotations too much. 2 other backs carried the ball for a total of 6 carries. But this guy Gill was going off...so why not feed the beast?

For Chicago they spread the ball around to 7 different receivers.

Miami spread it around to 10 different receivers.

I am going to tinker with the penalty slider. I felt at max it was overdone. I will find the right balance playing more games.

No formation subs.

You can sub....but it is cumbersome. Again this game is not a polished AAA title. But for a small development team I really commend them. This game is made for Coach Mode and lots of fictional fun!!!

I will keep posting impressions as I dive into Franchise mode tonight.

Re: Axis Football 2020 is now live on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux)

After a few games (cpu v cpu):
-I haven't seen a QB throw under 70 percent
-Penalties at 10 weren't enough, 16 was a touch too many, trying 12. Penalty slider is responsive
-Sack frequency has been good (1-4 per team)
-I haven't seen a kick returner take a knee in the endzone, they return it no matter where the ball is kicked
-No/extremely rare RB subs, no formation subs
-Run game is poor, YPC under 3
-Franchise mode is very deep, lots to do week in and week out

These are the settings I'm testing:
Pro difficulty
15 minute quarters
15 seconc accelerated clock
Game Speed: 0.7
Clock Speed: 9
Injury Frequency: 2
Penalty Frequency: 12

Broadcast Cam: zoom 20, height 45
