Working on the interview with Anthony Yampol

I'm currently working on the interview with the main gameplay producer of NHL 2K10, NHL 2K11 and thus the man who has the major impact on the 2KHS project.

The man of course is the long-time member of the 2khockey community, Anthony Yampol.

I have a few.


1. I know it's not really his department nor is he an expert, but he certainly knows more about the business side of video games than most of us here. What would it take for another publisher to put out a full fledged NHL game (or maybe one with cities where we could fully customize and share rosters)? Say if 2kHS got 50,000 downloads, would it be enough to get attention?

2. How does it feel to know that a game that is almost 10 years old is still considered to be the best representation of the sport?

3. How does he feel about sports gaming in general? As in, the lack of sports games compared to the ps2/xbox era.

I would love to give him tons of praise for involved in games that are still light years ahead of today's gameplay

Is there a way to fix the maximum edits to players on roster files? If so, I'd keep editing this game to the end of time! I reached the maximum- 1000 or so? Is there a secret code

I'd also be interested in finding out if there would be interest in putting out a hockey game with fictional players that has a franchise mode similar to 2K10's gameplay. I'm not sure what sort of resources and business plan is needed to pull it off.

Get him to make a new 2K Hockey. 2K10 still works well. I play it at least 2 to 3 times a month. Looks nearly as good as EAs current product (except the players) A.I. is still better and goalies still are far better then current EA goalies !!!

See if he would produce a new hockey game that was crowd funded. Make it generic but fully customizable. Let the community take care of logos and rosters. I suppose the arenas would be an issue though. But if it was generic it wouldn't be restricted by licensing or rules set by the NHL.

One time I ****ed over Anthony in a trade in NHL 2K5. He proposed it and then I accepted it like a month later. I think I traded for Todd Bertuzzi?

I still feel bad about it like 13 years later LOL.

On a side note, I was watching a Twitch stream of 2K10 and that **** was super hype. So, I just picked up NHL 2K9 and 2K11 on eBay because they're the only 2Ks I haven't played. Still have the Wii U hooked up for Mario Maker and figured why the hell not?
