FC Istres OP Signs New Manager
New Face To Soccer Has Lofty Goals
Today was a huge day for the France Ligue 2, as the virtually unknown manager Bryan Phillips signed on to manage FC Istres, one of the worst teams in one of the worst leagues. There was a lot of speculation as to why they made such an absurd hiring, until it was announced that Phillips would bring his 17 year old son with him. A highschooler all the way back in America, "Cleat" as is his son's nickname, is internationally known, not as much for his skill, but for his speed and raw potential. Though he is not yet close to being a star, Pfef is easily going to start on this FC Istres team, and probably lead the team in scoring. Many experts analyzing the hiring believe that the soul reason Phillips was hired.
"Those are just rumors, and they are ridiculous at that. This organization has put 100% faith in my ability to manage and also has given me the reins to run the organization. One player is not worth giving someone you don't want to hire all of those privallages," Phillips barked at his press conference. While the Isteres board backed him up, many critics still aren't sure. Why hire someone who has no experience managing anything, let alone a professional soccer organization? Either way, Phillips is going to have his hands full with a lack of talent in Istres. Goalie Kossi Agassa and defender Mamadou Doumbia are regarded as the two biggest talents, the only two players that would have a chance to move to be playing on Ligue One squad. "Hopefully the transfer market will be generous to us, but we need to do some winning first," Phillips commented on the team's talent.
Istres is expected to finish near the bottom of the awful Ligue 2, as they have been known to do since being relegated to Ligue 2. However, if Cleat can make a difference, the team may be moving towards the top, as the ultimate goal is to return to Ligue 1, and stay there on a permanent basis. Can they do it? Who knows, but we will be following closely.
Sorry about the uglyness and spacing of the first post, im working on a format, but haven't picked one to stick with yet. I like the idea of a newspaper, but I need to either HTML it or photoshop it, so I am working on that now.
