After a cagy first half, Liverpool came out all guns blazing, Kuyt pumping a long ball into the box for Torres to chest down and volley home. Im playing as a player/manager, it's my second season,and the transfer window is open. How do I transfer players? I tried doing it on the main menu but it doesn't seem to carry over into my career mode team.

Unfortunately, when you transfer a player in the main menu, it will work for Kick Off and every tournament and career mode that you start from that point. Unfortunately, it won't carry over into the career mode.
To sign players (never been as player manager but presuming) go into transfers, go into the transfer market, find a player you want and press X in transfer season, which will take you to a bid screen. Set the negotiations, play a match and then you get the response.

is the "transfer" menu found when in career mode? b/c I can't find anything resembling that (I can only find a transfer type menu in the main menu). I'm so lost!

I've just had a look, and unfortunately, I don't think you can make Transfers in player-manager
