Double Shock At Elland Road
In a story set to bombard the world of football today, Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has sacked manager Simon Grayson, and brought in unknown manager Ben Wignall.

The 19-year old has only managed in the Sunday League with his local side, Longridge Town, based near Preston, so goodness knows what Bates was thinking in appointing the youngster. He could prove us wrong though, as he has a very good squad to work with.

Leeds are predicted for mid-table this season, and this summer they've brought in the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Ross McCormack and Neill Collins. With Bates providing a big budget for Wignall to spend, maybe a return to the Premier League isn't impossible for the Whites, despite having a rookie manager on board.

2 Sign But Snoddy Departs
Leeds United winger Robert Snodgrass has turned a few heads by dropping a league to sign for moneybags Southampton.

The strange thing is that many Premier League clubs were after the Scot, but he chose to drop down a level and reject the advances of Newcastle United and West Ham United, thus showing he has no ambition whatsoever.

The Saints have doubled his £4,000 a week deal with the Whites to £8,000 a week, prompting Leeds fans to question his ambition and wether he was in it for the money.

One fan who walked past Elland Road this morning said; "I wouldn't mind if he moved to a Premier League club, he'd play well in the top flight, but to move to a League One club is appaling. Apparently his wage has been doubled too, so I only think he's in it for the money. If he comes back to Elland Road he'll get a good rollocking by the fans.

Despite the anger of the loss, Leeds signed Argentinian striker Lucas Castroman for £3.8 Million. He joins from Racing Club in Argentina. Not much is known about the 28-year old, but new boss Ben Wignall described him as a goalscorer, and a real complete forward.

Also signing for Leeds is West Ham full-back Jonathan Spector. The former Man Utd man signs on loan until mid-October, and could make a permanent move in January.

Four New Players Arrive
Leeds United have further strengthened their squad with the signing of four new players, and three of those are on loan.

The only permanent signing is of winger José Pedro, from Portugese side Belenenses. The 30-year old Portugese winger signs for £400k, and is expected to be a starter on the opening day of the season.

Another two midfielders signing, albeit on loan are Bolton's Fabrice Muamba and Stoke City's Michael Tonge. Wonderkid Muamba is being farmed out for experience, whilst Tonge can't get a game at the Britannia Stadium.

Versatile Belgian defender Ritchie De Laet also signs on loan from Manchester United. Ben Wignall is expected to play him at centre-back and bring in another left-back, thought to be Michael Ball this week. Apparently Ken Bates is to provide a bit more money if needed for Wignall, but at this present time, Leeds look like a good outfit this season.

Wignall Adds Two New Stars To Side
Ben Wignall has added two players to his Leeds United side just a few days before the nPower Championship kick-off against Burnley.

Reading winger Jimmy Kebe has made the £1.5 Million switch to Elland Road, and left-back Michael Ball has joined on a Free Transfer having been released from Manchester City.

Leeds left-back Ben Parker and centre-midfielder Bradley Johnson have both signed for Ipswich Town, for a combined fee of £800k.

Leeds may have a completely new starting 11 when they play in the Evening kick-off against the Clarets at Elland Road. The Whites have a good chance of promotion this season, and the team looks good for £6 Million of investment.
