HAMMERS' NEW HIRE IS ANNOUNCED

C&B Staff Witer- West Ham has announced the hiring of new manager Crispin Walters. Walters was brought in to rescue the Hammers from relegation, which they have just narrowly escaped in the past few seasons. Walters has a stellar resume coaching in lower leagues, but has admittedly entered new territory taking on the West Ham job. "I'm humbled by the opportunity. This is far bigger than anything I've attempted in the past," said Walters at a press conference today inside Upton Park.
The young manager is not letting inexperience within the Premiership stop him from setting his expectations high. "I believe the past is the past. We're going to turn the corner this year and get West Ham United back in hunt for Europe."

thanks man. i'm glad to hear you'll be following. as far as transfer targets go, i have no definite plans yet. i'm going to play a few of my friendlies to evaluate the squad. but just off the top of my head.... we're probably going to need some help at the back.
i may just hold off and wait til the next transfer window to make any serious moves.

HAMMERS EYE MAN UNITED'S DE LAET

C&B Staff Writer- Rumors are swirling around Upton Park that the Hammers are trying to lure defender R. De Laet away from Old Trafford. De Laet has been listed by Manchester United but early reports are that the asking price is still too high for West Ham.
Hammers' boss Crispin Walters also released a statement today saying that midfielder H. Eyjolfsson has been shipped out on season loan to Club Deportivo Chivas USA of the MLS.

FRIENDLIES OVER; LEAGUE PLAY SET TO BEGIN

C&B Staff Writer- West Ham finished off their pre-season friendlies last night with a promising 2-0 win over Belgian club Cercle Brugge. West Ham's other pre-season results were less than stellar. A 1-1 draw at home against Genoa and a 2-0 away defeat one week later.
West Ham will open Barclays Premier League play next Sunday against Bolton Wanderers at Upton Park. The rest of the 2010-11 schedule is as follows:
