GBC: Global Boxing Championship

I bought Fight Night Champion 2 weeks ago, and the gameplay is pretty good but its kind of light on modes. With that said I will be making an organization similar to the UFC, and I will be doing the match making, and letting the CPU do the fights. All of the fighters that are on the games original roster will be the ones I start with, and they will have 0-0 records. For the created, and Champion Mode guys I will ease them into the company a few PPVs in. I'm still contemplating on whethter I will let Frost, or Bishop in. There will be a 4 man tournament to decide the champions of each weight class. I will only use 4 weight classes (Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight) because of how thin some of the classes are. Light Heavy's will all drop to Middle, and Feather's will move up to Light. Some boxers will be able to move between 2 classes like Hearns, or Pacquiao. If anyone has any suggestions on what fighters I should download just post it in the thread. I'll put the weight classes and rankings in the next post.

Re: GBC: Global Boxing Championship

GBC 1: Lightweight and Welterweight Tournaments Round 1 Fight Card

Lightweight
#1 Pernell Whitaker vs #4 Diego Corrales 12 Rounds
If I were a betting man man, I would never bet against Whitaker, but don't sleep on Corrales. His 5'10' height and 70" reach can cause problems for anyone in this division, and thats not even mentioning his left hook.

#2 Roberto Duran vs #3 Yuriorkis Gamboa 12 Rounds
Don't expect this one to make it the full 12 rounds. While Duran has the size advantage, the two fighters are even in strength and Gamboa has more speed.

Welterweight
#1 Manny Pacquiao vs #4 Oscar De La Hoya 12 Rounds
I fully expect Pac-Man's speed and straight left hand to control this one.

#2 Thomas Hearns vs #3 Ray Leonard 12 Rounds
This one has potential to be the fight of the night, as well as fight of the year. It will be a battle of Leonard's speed and skill vs Hearns' size and power.

Middleweight
#5 Joe Calzaghe vs #9 Jake Lamotta 10 Rounds
Middleweight tourney snub Joe Calzaghe looks to show why he should have been in Hopkins' spot agianst tough fighter Jake Lamotta.

Feel free to make predictions.

Re: GBC: Global Boxing Championship

GBC 1: Lightweight and Welterweight Tournaments Rd 1

Joe Calzaghe (1-0) defeats Jake Lamotta (0-1) by Decision
It was a compettitive fight for 2 rounds, but Calzaghe began to take control after stunning Lamotta in the 3rd round. Lamotta tried to come back, but only tired himself out, as Calzaghe coasted to a unanimous decision win.

Tommy Hearns (1-0) defeats Ray Leonard (0-1) by Decision
Hearns and Leonard had a classic fight. Hearns controlled the range early while Leonard used his superb athleticism late. Hearns edged out a unanimous decision, but had the fight been 15 rounds, I think the result might have different.

Manny Pacquiao (1-0) defeats Oscar De La Hoya by KO in Rd 5
As expected Pac-Man's speed and power were too much for De La Hoya to handle, as he was knocked down a total of 3 times on a way to a knockout loss.

Roberto Duran (1-0) defeates Yuriorkis Gamboa (0-1) by KO in Rd 5
Another predictable bout saw Duran and Gamboa play rock em sock em for a few rounds with Duran scoring a couple of knockdowns. Gamboa tried to slow down the pace of the fight by using movement, but was unsuccessful as Duran's power was too much.

Diego Corrales (1-0) defeats Pernell Whitaker (0-1) by KO in Rd 1
In what was the shocker of the tournament, Diego Corrales hit Whitaker with a flash knock down left hook early in round 1. Sweet Pea rose from the canvas, but was floored once more, and wouldn't rise again.
