Nottingham- On the road for the first time this season, Eddie Howe's men were primed and ready, getting two goals from Dean Marney and one from Charlie Austin on their way to a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Deadlocked at 1-1 after goals from Marney in the 17th minute and Forest's Dexter Blackstock in the 52nd, the Clarets went ahead to stay when 22 year old Austin created some space with a deft first touch before rocketing home a goal from 15 yards out at the 69 minute mark. Marney then sealed the deal with his second goal in the 80th minute. Here's today's stats:

Young Defender Inks Deal With Burnley

Polish Defender Jakub Rzezniczak Makes Move To Burnley

Burnley- Clarets Manager Eddie Howe announced today that Burnely has been able to acquire the services of 24 year old Polish National defender Jakub Rzezniczak from Legia Warsaw for roughly £825,000. Rzezniczak was then quickly signed to a three year contract worth £4,300 per week. Feeling as if his club needed to shore up its back line, Howe was pleased with the capture, saying: "I'm very happy to have Jakub on the club, he has a great engine and is quite aggressive and I fully expect him to earn a spot on the starting XI.

Round Four

Leicester- In a game marred by questionable tackles, and unruly crowd and injury, hometown Leicester City handed Eddie Howe's Burnley squad their first defeat of the season, winning by the score of 1-0. The game's lone goal was scored by David Nugent following a controversial penalty call at the 27' minute mark.
Injuries to Jermaine Beckford and Ben Marshall on questionable tackles in the first twenty minutes had the Leicester City fans screaming for blood when nary a foul was called on either play, but less than ten minutes later the fans got their wish when Nugent went down on what seemed to be a clean tackle. He easily beat Clarets keeper Brian Jensen on the ensuing penalty kick. The game spiraled downhill from there, with both Chris McCann and Jay Rodriguez both having to leave the game due to injuries suffered at the hands of Leicester City players, but throughout all of this City's defense remained stout and an equalizing goal never materialized and Burnely tasted defeat for the first time this season.
