Forest Defeat Owls By 2-1 In Thriller At Hillsborough

With the win, Forest move within 3 points of the top 10

In a bitterly fought contest, visiting Nottingham Forest responded to an early strike from Gary Gardner with an 18th minute equalizer from Jamie Mackie followed later by a 65th minute goal from Djamel Abdoun that proved to be the decider for the Reds who emerged victorious by the score of 2-1 over Sheffield Wednesday here at Hillsborough. Mired in 20th place following a 3-2 loss to Blackpool on 26 October, Forest have quietly righted the ship, going 4-4-0 to move within two points of the top ten.

Re: The Wednesday

Really enjoying this career mode a lot, and the updates you are providing are fantastic! Hate to see my team in real life (Huddersfield) at the bottom of the table though! They always struggle on FIFA games. And in real life for that matter! Had the privilege of going to see both Wednesday v Huddersfield games this year, when we won at Hillsborough and you won at our ground, so honours are even Anyway keep up the good work!

2013-14 Sky Bet Championship
Match Day #24
24 December, 2013
Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford 1-3 Sheffield Wednesday

Scoring Summary
41' Park Ju-Young - Wat
58' Atdhe Nuhiu - SWFC
82' Kamil Zayatte - SWFC
88' Gary Madine - SWFC

"Our Lads Just Wanted It More"

Starting for just the 3rd time, Kamil Zayatte makes an impact

Determined efforts from both Kamil Zayatte and Gary Madine helped lead visiting Sheffield Wednesday to a much needed come from behind 3-1 victory over play-off hopefuls Watford in front of a not so jolly Christmas Eve crowd here at Vicarage Road in Watford.
Three critical saves by Owls keeper Chris Kirkland including one on a 15th minute Park-Ju-Young penalty attempt kept the damage to a minimum for the visitors who trailed by just 1-0 at the break when in all likelihood it should have been a two or three goal deficit.
Coming out of the break however the Owls were a different club, quickly drawing level on a 58th minute goal from Atdhe Nuhiu. With momentum building, Wednesday slowly but surely began to gain an edge, and in the 82nd minute they finally broke through, taking a 2-1 when a line drive Chris Maguire corner resulted in a wild scrum inside the area that ended with defender Kamil Zayatte somehow depositing the ball into the back of the net. Six minutes later troubled striker Gary Madine ended any hope of a comeback with his first goal since March, a fantastic header that just may get the young man back on track.

28 December 2013

Owls 1-1 Blackburn

Scoring Summary
51' Kamil Zayette - SWFC
81' Rudy Gestede - BRFC

Late Equalizer Saves Point For Blackburn

Just one of those days for both clubs

In the final match of 2013 for both clubs, Rovers striker Rudy Gestede earned his side a well deserved point with an 81st minute strike from 21 yards that closed the books on a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday here at Hillsborough.
Scoreless at the break, it was the Owls who struck first when defender Kamil Zayatte once again found himself in the right spot during a chaotic corner kick as he slid one past a diving Paul Robinson in the 51st minute. Intent on drawing level, the visitors immediately responded, but three tremendous saves in succession by keeper Damian Martinez kept the Owls in front. Finally however in the 81st minute, striker Rudy Gestede found himself in perfect goal scoring position and he did not waste the chance, firing a screamer into the lower portion of the net to earn the draw.

In Form Burnley Continue Push Up The Table

Clarets captain Ashley Barnes is mobbed after opening the scoring

Sean Dyche's Clarets continued their march up the table with a thumping 3-0 win over visiting Sheffield Wednesday.
Striker Ashly Barnes opened the scoring for Burnley in the 26th minute, then doubled their lead early on in the second half with a cool as a cucumber penalty try. Ten minutes before time midfielder Dean Marney got in on the act, adding the exclamation mark when he finished off a counter to make it 3-0. With the win, Burnley move up into 9th position on 38 points, while the Owls, who've now won just once in their last five, fall into 13th with 34.

Maguire Wins It At The Death For Wednesday

Chris Maguire celebrates one of the goals of the season for the Owls

Chris Magure's last gasp strike from 20 yards sent Hillsborough into a wild frenzy on Tuesday as Sheffield Wednesday snatched a triumphant 3-2 victory over promotion candidates Wigan Athletic in a memorable back and forth affair.
Leading by a goal to nil at halftime courtesy of a Gary Madine penalty conversion, the Owls were pressed hard in the second half, eventually allowing a 65th minute equalizer on a headed goal by Callum McManaman. Not more than three minutes later, Wednesday were back in front courtesy of a rarity, a goal from Leon Best. Back in front but again under heavy pressure, the Owls were equaled once again, this time by wing back Roger Espinoza who easily beat young Adam Davies to level the match at 2-2 with just under ten minutes remaining. With time winding down, a deft 1-2 between Maikel Antonio and Liam Palmer afforded the Owls just enough time to set up shop deep in Wigan country, a string of passes later it was Chris Maguire finding just enough space to get off a shot that somehow found it's way through a mass of bodies and into the net with just seconds remaining, securing the much needed victory.
