NPower League 2 Match Day #11
29 September 2012
Home Park, Plymouth

Plymouth Argyle 0-0 Oxford United

Lack Of Finishing Results In Frustrating Draw For Pilgrims

Plymouth- A maddening lack of quality finishing by the Pilgrims allowed visiting Oxford United to escape Home Park with a draw despite being completely outplayed throughout the match. On the bright side, Plymouth keeper Jake Cole continued his amazing run of form, earning his league best 5th clean sheet of the season. Up next for Plymouth is a round 2 "Paint Pot" cup tie with League One's Tranmere Rovers here at Home Park.

2 October 2012
Home Park, Plymouth

Plymouth Argyle 1-0 Tranmere

Scoring Summary
67' Andres Gurrieri - PAFC

In-Form Cole Asks To Play, Then Delivers Victory With Outstanding Performance

Plymouth- Scheduled to be on the bench for Plymouth's round 2 Paint Pot cup tie with Tranmere Rovers, first team keeper Jake Cole went to Manager Carl Fletcher's office on Monday and requested to play in the match, citing his reservations about missing a match while in such good form, Fletcher acquiesced to his man's request, and the rest as they say, is history. Cole went out and proved to be the man of the match, time and time again stopping what looked to be sure goals, all the while giving his team a chance, a chance that was taken in the 67th minute when substitute winger Andres Gurrieri struck an absolute beauty, high and away into the far corner of the net from about 17 yards, giving the Pilgrims all they would need to secure the 1-0 upset victory of League One's Tranmere Rovers.

This is great, love the idea of taking control of a squad so low in the pyramid and trying to compete with them. Is it frustrating playing with players who are rated so poorly?

No actually because I'm playing against the same types! The goal here actually isn't to bring Plymouth up to the Premier League per se, it's more of a Manager Dynasty in which I'll(hopefully) get offered better and better jobs as I(again hopefully) win promotions, trophies, championships. My house rule so to speak is simple, I will not move laterally in a lower league, meaning I won't go for a job for a different club in the same lower level league. For example, Bradford City is struggling badly and are looking for a Manager, I would not apply for that however because they play in the same league as me now.

Surging Plymouth Move To 3rd As Devon Derby Looms

Cheltenham- Two goals in eight minutes completely against the run of play gave visiting Plymouth Argyle a shocking 2-1 lead after twenty two minutes. Pilgrims keeper Jake Cole took care of the rest, extending his amazing run of form by time and again thwarting the potent Cheltenham Town attack with fantastic save after fantastic save allowing the visitors to escape Whaddon Road with the unlikeliest of 2-1 victories. The win moves the Pilgrims all the way up into third place, just six points behind first place Gillingham as they prepare for their first derby of the year vs. Exeter City on Saturday.

Although I thought this would have been a good idea, I hate it. I truly miss competing against the big boys of Europe. Consider this killed, sorry guys!
