Re: WWE 13 Battle of the Brands!

Smackdown Week 2 April 2012

Smackdown starts off with Chris Jericho in the ring. He talks about how he was screwed last week in Beat The Clock tournament as he had the toughest opponent out of everyone. Jericho says he had to face Randy Orton, a former WWE and World Champion meanwhile Big Show, Rey Mysterio and Kane were all gifted untalented nobodies just like everyone in the arena tonight. Chris says he wants a title right now because he is the best in the world at what he does. Mysterio’s music hits and he comes out to the ring. Rey says he would also love a title shot but the fact is he failed at his opportunity last week just like Jericho did. As the 2 get face to face we hear Booker T’s music and it is his turn to come out. Booker says while Jericho did receive a fair shot last week he can understand the point Chris is making. Booker T announces a tag team handicap match for the main event featuring Big Show and Sheamus vs Kane, Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho. Booker says if Jericho’s team then they will face off next week in a triple threat match and the winner will be added to the World Heavyweight Championship match at Over The Limit.

Match 1 – Sin Cara vs Hunico

Hunico defeats Sin Cara in a high flying opening bout.

Winner – Hunico via Pinfall 4:59

Match 2 – Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre vs Jimmy & Jey Uso (Tag Team Championship No.1 Contender)

The Dashing Ones defeated The Usos to earn themselves a title match at Over The Limit. Cody pinned Jimmy Uso with the Disaster Kick.

Winners – Rhodes & McIntyre via Pinfall 6:31

Layla is backstage talking with Kofi Kingston before being interrupted by Wade Barrett. Barrett looks down on Kingston and asks Layla why she would be interested in someone like that when there is a strong, successful Englishman on the same brand. Layla tells Barrett that being English is the only thing they have in common. Kofi Kingston replies that if Barrett likes looking down at him then try doing it tonight in the ring.

Match 3 - The Great Khali vs Lord Tensai

Tensai impressed in his WWE debut as he destroyed The Great Khali in a short match.

Winner – Tensai via Pinfall 2:40

Match 4 – Kofi Kingston vs Wade Barrett

Kingston prevailed against Barrett in a close, back and forth match up. The ending came when Kofi managed to counter his way out of The Winds of Change and connect with Trouble in Paradise. Wades plan may have backfired as losing to Kingston certainly wouldn’t have impressed Layla.

Winner – Kofi Kingston via Pinfall 7:14

Match 5 – Sheamus & Big Show vs Chris Jericho, Kane & Rey Mysterio

Both teams wanted to win for obvious reasons yet it was the alliance of Big Show and Sheamus that worked together better as they dominated the majority of the match by beating down Jericho and Mysterio. Everything changed however when Jericho finally made the tag to Kane. The Big Red Machine exploded on Big Show with a series of punches followed by a big uppercut. Kane went up top and hit Show with the flying clothesline as Mysterio and Jericho began to double team Sheamus on the outside. Kane finished off Big Show with a Chokeslam for the 3 count.

Winners – Kane, Jericho & Mysterio via Pinfall 9:27

Jericho, Kane and Mysterio all stand in the ring as the referee raises their hands however only 1 can be victorious next week! Tune in to find out.

Smackdown Key Moments
• Kane, Jericho and Mysterio all earned a chance to get entered into the World Championship match at Over The Limit but who will be successful next week?
• How will Big Show and Sheamus react knowing that they now have a 3rd man to prepare for?
• Tensai was hugely impressive in his debut by destroying The Great Khali. Will he be able to top that next week?

Smackdown Rating - 2.5/5
(Good main event that was unfortunately let down by a poor undercard)

RAW Week 3 April 2012

Raw starts off with John Laurinitias standing in the back. He welcomes us to Raw and makes a champion vs champion rematch from last week with John Cena as the special guest referee which gets a loud reaction from the crowd. He also announces a fatal 4 way match for Extreme Rules to become the number 1 contender for the WWE Championship featuring Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio.

Match 1 Heath Slater vs Zack Ryder

Slater defeated Ryder in the opening match of the show. Ryder was over with the crowd but he couldn’t go over against the 1 Man Rock Band Heath Slater.

Winner - Heath Slater via Pin-fall 4:38

Match 2 Damien Sandow & Dolph Ziggler vs Epico & Primo

Ziggler and Sandow once again found themselves on the same team after impressing last week and tonight was no exception. Primo and Epico struggled to create any real offense as they were kept grounded by their larger opponents. Sandow got the win with a Powerbomb on Epico.

Winners – Sandow & Dolph Ziggler via Pin-fall 6:09

Match 3 Kelly Kelly vs Eve (Divas Championship No.1 Contender)

Eve’s new vicious streak over the past few weeks have no doubt contributed to her success lately however it was her overconfidence that cost her this time around. In a rematch from 2 weeks ago it was Kelly Kelly who came out on top with a roll up and will now go onto challenge for the Divas Championship at Extreme Rules.

Winner – Kelly Kelly via Pin-fall 3:57

Backstage CM Punk confronts John Cena about his role in tonight's main event. Punk says Cena portrays himself as good guy, but is he going to do the right thing tonight? Cena says he will call it down the middle and wishes Punk good luck which the champion reluctantly accepts before walking off.

Match 4 Mark Henry & Alberto Del Rio (w) Ricardo Rodriguez vs Randy Orton & Daniel Bryan (w) AJ Lee

Mark Henry proved what most of us already know, that he is not a team player when he clotheslined his own partner just seconds into the match before heading to the back. This left Del Rio all alone against the duo of Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan who finished off the Mexican after Orton delivered the RKO. Bryan did not appear to be happy that it was Randy who got the pin-fall and not himself as he stormed to the back leaving AJ behind.

Winners – Randy Orton & Daniel Bryan via Pin-fall 7:09

Match 5 The Miz vs CM Punk (Special Referee – John Cena)

Cena made his way to the ring first, followed by The Miz and then the WWE Champion CM Punk. Punk wasted no time as he went on the attack and opened up on Miz with a series of strikes. Punk continued to dominate using near enough every move he could think of while allowing the Intercontinental hardly any offense. Miz tried to escape by exiting the ring but he was taken out by Punk with a suicide dive. Miz used the barricade to his advantage as he pulled himself up to his feet however so did Punk as he charged at the awesome one and speared him through the barricade. Punk entered the ring and stared down Cena who had no choice but to count out The Miz after an extremely slow count.

Winner – CM Punk via Count Out 5:48

After the match Punk grabs his title and raises it in front of Cena. Punk appears to be unhappy at Cena, perhaps for the slow count he gave at the end. Both men share words as the show closes.

Raw Key Moments
• Punk ended a 2 match losing streak against The Miz. As Cena vs Punk approaches which man will gain the upper hand next week on the final Raw before Extreme Rules?
• Kelly Kelly defeated Eve to become no.1 contender for the Divas Championship.
• Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan will all have the chance to earn a WWE Title shot when they meet at Extreme Rules.

Raw Rating - 3/5
(Champion vs Champion Rematch, New Divas No.1 Contender and several top stars in action. Solid all round Raw.)

Excellent job with the storytelling, very believable. Can't wait to see how Extreme Rules plays out.

Smackdown Week 3 April 2012

Match 1 – Santino Marella vs Jack Swagger

The United States Champion Santino Marella defeated Jack Swagger in the opening bout.

Winner – Santino Marella via Pin-fall 5:03

Sheamus and Big Show are both in the GM’s office. They’re both unhappy at the fact no matter who wins tonight’s main event that neither of them have to pinned at Extreme Rules to lose. Booker T reassures them that they don’t to worry about that scenario as their match at Extreme Rules will be a Falls Count Anywhere Elimination Match.

Match 2 – Christian vs Antonio Cesaro

Antonio Cesaro made his debut tonight here on Smackdown against the Canadian veteran Christian. The man from Switzerland impressed in his first match and looked to have won several times but Christian’s experience paid off in the end and he won with the spear.

Winner – Christian via Pin-fall 7:39

The camera cuts backstage to where Kofi Kingston is preparing for his match. Layla passes by and wishes him good luck. Moments later Kingston receives a phone call from R-Truth. Truth says to Kofi that maybe he shouldn't get too close to Layla because fours a crowd and Lil Jimmy doesn't like strangers. Kingston laughs and replies that Lil Jimmy isn't even real. Truth tells Kofi to watch his back out there so that he doesn't get got!

Match 3 - Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre vs Kofi Kingston, Jey & Jimmy Uso

The Dashing Ones continued to gain momentum heading into Extreme Rules as they picked up another win in this 6 man tag match. Rhodes finished off Kingston with the Cross Rhodes.

Winner – Barrett, Rhodes & McIntyre via Pin-fall 7:24

Match 4 – Nikki Bella (w) Brie Bella vs Layla

Layla tried her best but with both Bella’s at ringside the odds were always against her. Nikki got the pin after a delivering a Neckbreaker.

Winner – Nikki Bella via Pin-fall 3:48

There is a walking Christmas tree heading to the ring and that can only mean 1 thing, it is main event time! Matt Striker approaches Jericho for a quick word about his predictions for the match. Jericho calmly responds that he predicts tonight’s winner won’t be wearing a mask.

Match 5 – Rey Mysterio vs Chris Jericho vs Kane

Mysterio and Jericho started the match with the same idea as they double teamed Kane from the beginning. The two worked well together until Mysterio went for a pin and that’s when all hell broke loose. These 3 men gave it everything over the next 10 minutes and any one of them could have been victorious. Jericho locked in the Walls on Kane but the Big Red Machine refused to tap, Jericho went up top but was caught in mid-air with a Chokeslam which he barely managed to kick out off and Mysterio was almost out cold as Jericho covered him after a Codebreaker but Kane broke the count up at two. The finish came when Jericho dropkicked Kane to the outside and turned around only to get hit by the 619 which got Rey the one, two, three!

Winner – Rey Mysterio via Pin-fall 13:02

As Rey Mysterio celebrated on his way to the back, an irate Kane attacked Jericho in the ring. Kane was furious that Jericho lost and challenged him to a match at Extreme Rules as Smackdown went off the air.

Smackdown Key Moments
• We found out Mysterio will be the 3rd participant in the World Heavyweight Championship match at Extreme Rules.
• Kane issued a challenge to Chris Jericho for Extreme Rules but will he accept?
• Antonio Cesaro impressed on his debut even in defeat. How will the Swiss superstar respond in his next match?

Smackdown Rating 3/5
(Action packed main event, debut of Antonio Cesaro and the continuation of rivalries made for some good viewing.)
