Re: The Welsh Wizards: Swansea City Career Mode Fifa 13
Defensive error costs Everton 3 points
September 22, 2012
Swansea, Wales - "Unbelievable." was the only word from David Moyes after the match.
Twenty minutes away from earning three points, a huge error by the defense gave Swansea a chance to steal a point.
"I'm obviously not happy," Lane says in the post-match conference "We would have most likely lost without that error."
The match ended 2-2, to Swansea fans' relief and Toffee fans' unbelief.
Swansea, in customary fashion, struck first in the 6th minute with Dyer providing the goal. Everton wasted no time, scoring twice in the first half: Mirallas scored in the 19th and Osman in the 27th. Things were going well, until the defense made the costly error.
It all began with a through ball from Britton. The pass was obviously going nowhere, but for some reason, Everton's defenders seemed too dazed to go clear the ball. Realizing the situation, Tim Howard tried to help out by moving away from the box, towards the ball about 30 yards out from goal. The move, obviously, made no sense, because he would have had a better chance of blocking the shot by staying inside. Unfortunately, Michu got to it first and kicked towards the open goal.
"How that happened, I have no idea," says Howard "I can't even remember making the decision to get out of my box."
Similar cases have occurred before, and has been called the "EA-Sports-Phenomenon" short for Enthusiastic Athletes in Sports Phenomenon. They are often caused when an athlete feels caught or trapped in a state where they make reckless decisions, or cause other types of phenomena. Classics are humongous keepers, over powered defenders, and disappearing balls.
Swansea City has declared to put this game behind them and focus on their next match against Stoke City.
