Capital One Cup: Victor Andrade with a performance repeat as Swansea beats Huddersfield Town 2-1

September 18, 2012

Huddersfield, England - He's done it again. Brazilian wonder kid, Victor Andrade has scored another 90th minute goal, this time in a cup match.

"It was just a simple kick, and it went in." Andrade says about what he remembers.

Swansea were still drunk in their victory over Aston Villa, and that was evident as Huddersfield exposed flaws in their defense allowing Adam Clayton to give Huddersfield the early lead.

Swansea's game turned into impatient passing and forcing chances.

"We seriously thought we were done for after that goal." explained Chico on their behavior.

It would not be later though, until the 83rd minute, where Swansea would get it's hopes up again. Routledge scored on a luck bounce with three defenders in front of him. And that was what paved the road for Swansea, to take control of the game. Andrade would once again find the open space and smack the ball past the keeper and into the net.

"That game was another reminder of our tenacity." Lane commented after the match.

Defensive error costs Everton 3 points

September 22, 2012

Swansea, Wales - "Unbelievable." was the only word from David Moyes after the match.

Twenty minutes away from earning three points, a huge error by the defense gave Swansea a chance to steal a point.

"I'm obviously not happy," Lane says in the post-match conference "We would have most likely lost without that error."

The match ended 2-2, to Swansea fans' relief and Toffee fans' unbelief.

Swansea, in customary fashion, struck first in the 6th minute with Dyer providing the goal. Everton wasted no time, scoring twice in the first half: Mirallas scored in the 19th and Osman in the 27th. Things were going well, until the defense made the costly error.

It all began with a through ball from Britton. The pass was obviously going nowhere, but for some reason, Everton's defenders seemed too dazed to go clear the ball. Realizing the situation, Tim Howard tried to help out by moving away from the box, towards the ball about 30 yards out from goal. The move, obviously, made no sense, because he would have had a better chance of blocking the shot by staying inside. Unfortunately, Michu got to it first and kicked towards the open goal.

"How that happened, I have no idea," says Howard "I can't even remember making the decision to get out of my box."

Similar cases have occurred before, and has been called the "EA-Sports-Phenomenon" short for Enthusiastic Athletes in Sports Phenomenon. They are often caused when an athlete feels caught or trapped in a state where they make reckless decisions, or cause other types of phenomena. Classics are humongous keepers, over powered defenders, and disappearing balls.

Swansea City has declared to put this game behind them and focus on their next match against Stoke City.

Undefeated no more: Swansea falls to Stoke City 1-0

September 29, 2012

Stoke-on-Trent, England - All unbeaten runs will come to a screeching halt. The same goes for Kendrick Lane's Swans.

The manager, didn't even bother wearing his customary jester hat after press conferences. Instead what face the media, was a serious and no-nonsense manager. Sure a few jokes here and there, but the hearty, jovial Lane was nowhere to be seen.

"They outplayed. That's all I can say." Lane tells the press after the game.

The only goal of the day came from Kenwyne Jones on a header which required not a lot of skill at all (Leon Britton, who is easily 22 centimeters shorter and 37 kilograms lighter, was the only one close enough to head it out) which occured in the 9th minute.

Swansea was immediately pressured and could not create chances.

"We panicked too early." Michu told reporters during the post-match conference.

"All we have to do is train harder, and focus on the games ahead." said Nathan Dyer.

Swansea is now on the road again to face Reading, who has been disastrous the entire season.

Swansea City bounces back with 2-0 victory over Reading

October 2, 2013

Swansea, Wales - With only 2 home games in the month of October, Swansea has to make every game count, mostly because they face both Manchester clubs back to back. They'll face tough challenges in Old Trafford and the Etihad.

After the defeat against Stoke, Swansea has formed a tighter bond between it's players and the staff.

"The defense feels particularly down," says skipper, Ashley Williams "You could say that the offense didn't produce, but we could have still kept a point if we didn't concede."

The team appeared to be rejuvenated with an impressive 2-0 win over Reading. Brazilian midfielder, Adryan, scored in the 35th minute of the match to give Swansea the lead. Adryan, has been performing at a high level since arriving in Wales.

"I'm loving the club," says Adryan "It's doing wonders for my progression as a footballer."

Another Brazilian youngster, Victor Andrade, scored for the Welsh side to put them 2 goals ahead at the beginning of the second half. Andrade has scored 4 goals so far for the Welsh club, giving him the second highest goal tally in the club (Behind Michu who has 5) so far in this season.

"Contributing in today's win feels really good," the Brazilian forward comments after the game "I felt partially responsible for the loss last week, because I didn't score."

Swansea's defense held tight in this game, allowing Vorm to keep a clean sheet.

"Everyone knows our club's the best when we're in form," Kendrick Lane tells the press after the game "If the teams underestimate us, they're in for a huge surprise."

Swansea City continue impressive form with 2-0 shutout against Wigan

October 20, 2013

Swansea, Wales - Swansea's at it again. The Welsh side has won another game in their so far, impressive campaign.

With most pundits, fans, and clubs expecting the Welsh side to only be a mid-table club, Swansea climbs to 4th in the league after their 8th match in the league. It may be early on, but Swansea City is showing a lot of promise.

Swansea City midfielder, Jonathan de Guzman scored the opening goal of the game in the 37th minute and Lora provided the second goal in the 57th minute. Marc Bartra earned a red card in the 87th minute, but it was all too late to change anything.

"We've been unbeaten this month," says manager, Kendrick Lane "We'd like to stay that way. We know Manchester United is an amazing club, but we still intend on winning."

Swansea City has been unbeaten so far in this month, but with the Welsh club facing Manchester United, it may change soon.
