2013-14 Ligue 1
Match Day #5
31 August 2013
Stade Velodrome, Marseille

Marseille 0-1 AS Monaco

Scoring Summary
86' Dimitar Berbatov - ASM

Nouveau Riche Monaco Make Statement With Victory At The Velodrome

Now just a bit player, Berbatov still knows where the goal is

Dimitar Berbatov's dramatic chip just over the outstretched hand of a desperate Steve Mandanda proved to be the difference in a fantastic match between two of the heavyweights of French football as visiting AS Monaco shocked the home fans with a 1-0 triumph over previously unbeaten Olympique Marseille here at the Stade Velodrome.
Back in Ligue 1 following a two year hiatus down in Ligue 2, the principality club sent shock waves through Europe this summer with a nearly €175 million euro spending spree which netted them such stars as Radamal Falcao, Joao Moutinho, and James Rodriguez, and the results thus far have been instantaneous and dramatic. With their victory today, Monaco have overtaken Marseille at the top of the Ligue 1 table, and although it's early days, their performances thus far have shown them to be a serious threat to defending champions PSG.

Very solid start to the season so far. How is Gignac to play with? He looks like such a tank and I know he scored 16 goals IRL in Ligue 1 this year.

For a club like West Ham who look to cross the ball into the box a lot he's really really good, kinda like Andy Carroll with foot skills, and a bit more pace, but for what I'm aiming for, he's a bit of a square peg. Problem is my squad is razor thin, I literally have about 13-14 outfield players worth playing, and four of those are CDM types, there's absolutely no cover for the attackers/mids save for Saber Khalifa who's a striker.

2013-14 Coupe De La Ligue
Round #2
4 September 2013
Stade de la Mosson, Montpellier

Montpellier 1-0 Marseille

Scoring Summary
60' Djamel Bakar - Mont

Beaten By One Of Their Own

Djamel Bakar celebrates the winner

Despite being given a very difficult draw in their second round Coupe De Le Ligue fixture(the lesser of two domestic cup tourneys in France), Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa stuck to his guns and gave several youngsters their first chance to impress in live game action, and although his actions were admirable, they were in the end futile as the visitors looked toothless in a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of hosts Montpellier. Earning the victory for Montpellier was 25 year old Marseille native Djmel Bakar, who's 60th minute strike was one of few chances in an all around dull affair.

Second Half Penalties Seal Marseille's Fate

A dejected Dimitri Payat walks off as Dortmund celebrate around Marco Reus

Despite dominating the match from start to finish, visiting Borussia Dortmund needed two second half penalty kicks to salt away an out gunned Marseille squad who's grit and determination could net them nothing but a 3-1 defeat in this opening round Champions League group stage match-up.
Forced to play with an ultra defensive style for most of the match, hosts Marseille had dreams of stealing a point when they somehow managed to go into halftime level at 1-1 in a match in which they were clearly second best, but book end second half penalty calls proved too much for OM to overcome as they eventually lost the match by a 3-1 score.

Marseille Take The Points On Late Goal By Khalifa

Substitute striker Saber Khalifa plays the hero

Losers of three straight(in all comps), Marcelo Bielsa's lads went across the Mediterranean and into Corsica in the hopes of changing their fortunes for the better against an SC Bastia club who always play well at home, and thanks to second half goals from Florian Thauvin and Saber Khalifa, that's exactly what they did, escaping the Stade Armand Cesari with a hard fought 2-1 triumph which upped their record in the league to an impressive 5-0-1.

Re: El Loco: The Bielsa Revoloution

Boo! Boo! Boo!
And Boo!
Ever since the World Cup update to FIFA 14, the game has been crashing, a lot when I quit. This morning, it froze the PS4 cold, forcing a hard reset and of course file corruption. Awesome I know!
Anyway I'm going to completely uninstall and then reinstall the game, hopefully that helps. In the meantime this is now cooked, finished, finito. There will be another, not sure with whom yet, maybe a Spanish club.
