Re: A Chance At Redemption: The Mark Hughes Story

A few notes,

-Whelan's goal was pretty good, one of my best yet

-Secondly, I'll be heading down to the beach house for the next couple of weeks, but I will bring the PS4 to keep this moving along unfortunately though internet service there is like the stone ages so the match reports will be very very sparse(results, goal scorers, short write-up), with no graphics at all. Once I return it'll be business as usual.

Man, what a victory over Man U. They only had 6 shots though!? Is it still that David Moyes era? You must be defending out of your mind. The match highlights did look quite good actually. Yes, that Whelan goal was out of this world good. As good as Gatt's from Moose's? Hmmmmm

United were shockingly poor, especially in midfield, and as the match went on they got worse and worse, maybe it was a form thing, fatigue(several starters were out), or maybe it was just tactics, they tried a lot of crosses into the box and over the top but I was able to consistently win the headers and clear(Rooney was up top). Whatever it was Ill take it! Next up we have a chance to go to the quarters of the League Cup, but in order to get there we have to win at Reebok Stadium, and as I'm sure you know winning road cup ties are always tricky, even against Championship clubs. Incidentally, this makes it three straight Championship opponents in this tourney(Wigan, Huddersfield Town, and now Bolton).

Sitting here at McDonalds to take advantage of the free wi-fi(as the kids grub tuff), here is my first scaled down update from the beach house, I'll do my best!

Capital One Cup Round of 16
Bolton Wanderers 2
Stoke City 1

A 60th minute goal from John Guidetti opened the scoring, but the hosts responded with ferocity, getting goals from Lukas Jutkiewicz(66') and David Wheater(75') to send the Potters crashing from the party.

Capital One Cup Rd. of 16

Bolton 2-1 Stoke City
Chelsea 5-0 Leicester City
Manchester City 3-1 Arsenal
Portsmouth 0-2 Cardiff City
Spurs 1-0 Crystal Palace
West Ham 2-1 Middlesbrough
Everton 2-0 Reading
Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United

Barclays Premier League Match Day 10

Stoke City 0
Southampton 2

Unable to cope with the pace and skill of the Soton midfield, Stoke's defense was tested again and again by the Saints frontline, eventually conceding goals to Steven Davis(64') and Rickie Lambert(83') in a 2-0 defeat

News

-Mid Charlie Adam is out for 8 weeks with a torn quad suffered in training

Left sided mid Marko Arnautovic was lost for three weeks with a hyper extended knee

Barclays Premier League Match Day 11

Stoke City 1
Sunderland 1

Feeling the effects of injury for really the first time all year, The Potters responded well, dominating play throughout, but a well played game by Sunderland keeper Vito Mannone kept the hosts at bay forcing them to settle for a draw. Emanuele Giaccherini(50'). Peter Odemwingie(63') penalty kick

Stoke City: 4-4-3 16 points
Sunderland: 2-6-4 12 points

Re: A Chance At Redemption: The Mark Hughes Story

Uh oh injuries piling up. Charlie Adam most notably as he's one of my favorite Stoke players. Think he played well last season IRL.

Arnautovic - a little too volatile for my liking - but is he a big impact miss for you?

Thanks for the update!

Barclays Premier League Match Day 12

Swansea City 0
Stoke City 2

An injury to LB Marc Muniesa(sprained knee, 3 weeks), was the lone dark mark on a tremendous effort by the boys who got goals from a red hot Peter Odemwingie(8') and John Guidetti(90') on their way to an impressive 2-0 road victory over the always dangerous Swansea City

Stoke City: 5-4-3 19 points
Swansea City 3-3-6 12 points
