A dull first half was followed by a wild and wooly second half which saw four goals equally split as hosts Hull City were held at home by Stoke City 2-2.

2013-14 Barclays Premier League
Match Day #16
18 December 2013
Britannia Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent

Stoke City 1
Cardiff City 0

Despite another serious injury, this one to midfielder Stephen Ireland who's out for 3 months or so with a broken ankle, hosts Stoke City turned in a tremendous defensive performance. Limiting visiting Cardiff City to just three shots, and one on target in a 1-0 victory here at the Britannia. Wide man Oussama Assaidi(27') scored the lone goal of the match on a tremendous solo effort midway through the first half.

2013-14 Barclays Premier League
Match Day #17
21 December 2013
Britannia Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent

Stoke City 0
Aston Villa 1

Given a morale boost by the returns of Charlie Adam and Marc Muniesa, Stoke City started the match hot, testing Villa keeper Brad Guzan early and often throughout a scoreless first half, But as the match wore on, it was Villa who carried the play, and when given the chance late on a 90th minute corner, they snatched it and ran, earning the victory on an Aleksandar Tonev strike in the 90th minute of play.

Re: A Chance At Redemption: The Mark Hughes Story

I have two matches left in the calendar year, after those I'm going to try to post some semblance of a league table. As it stands, we sit in 9th with a mark of 6-5-6, right on target.

2013-14 Barclays Premier League
Match Day #18
26 December 2013
St. James' Park, Newcastle

Newcastle United 0
Stoke City 1

Nip and tuck the whole way, it took a highlight reel quality free kick by Marko Arnautovic in the 49th minute to break the deadlock, and in the end it proved to be the difference as Stoke City picked up a crucial 1-0 road victory over Newcastle United on Boxing Day. Unfortunately though for Stoke, the injury bug continues to bite with striker Peter Crouch suffering a sprained knee which will keep him out for about three weeks.
