Monchengladbach, North-Rhein-Westphalia (AP) - FC Schalke 04 got a late marker from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to scrape out a point at Borussia Park on Saturday afternoon, drawing 1-1 with Borussia Monchengladbach. The third place side controlled the play for most of the match and outshot the home side 7-3.

Tobias Sippel, Borussia Monchengladbach's backup keeper was given the start and performed admirably. He made six saves and was named the Man of the Match.

Gladbach took the lead just after halftime as Josip Drmic was able to split the Schalke defense and ripped a shot into the right corner of the net. But they could not hold on in the end as Schalke turned up the pressure and Choupo-Moting redirected a free kick past Sippel to tie it inside the final ten minutes.

Borussia Monchengladbach (3-5-2) slips out of the top six with the draw, falling to seventh. This was their third straight 1-1 draw. They will travel to Ingolstadt on Wednesday for the second round Deutscher Pokal tie with FC Ingolstadt.

Ingolstadt, Bavaria (AP) - Borussia Monchengladbach found their scoring touch on Wednesday evening as they routed FC Ingolstadt 3-nil in the second round of the 2015-16 Deutscher Pokal at Audi-Sportpark. Monchengladbach got goals from three youngsters as Adama Soumaoro (23), Joaquin Correa (21), and Andre Hahn (24) all scored as Gladbach rolled out their B-side.

The teams went to the half scoreless, but it was obvious that Gladbach was the better side, dominating the play and outshooting the home side 4-0.

Newly acquired right back Adama Soumaoro scored his first goal at Gladbach just after halftime after a nice move to free him self in the box. He then beat Ingolstadt keeper Orjan Nyland on the short side. Just five minutes later, another newcomer, Joaquin Correa made a beautiful play on a give and go with Kelechi Iheanacho. He buried a one-timer into the right corner of the goal to make it 2-nil.

Andre Hahn closed out the scoring in the 77th minute as he headed one home on a corner kick.

Monchengladbach returns to Bundesliga action on Saturday as they head to Berlin to take on Hertha BSC ahead of next Wednesday's Champions League home tie with FC Zenit.

Re: Rise to Power - Borussia Monchengladbach (FIFA16) - Bigjdotcom01

I was in 6th or 7th place around the same point in the schedule. I sold Raffaele and got Ruben Neves, and Youri Tielmans and switched to a 4-3-1-2 with hazard and Hahn as the two strikers and I've won something like 9 or my last 10 and am in 2nd currently 4 pts behind Bayern with 4 games left in the Bundesliga. Hahn is really good at ST and has scored 11 goals for me, he's listed as a right mid but his other position is ST and he finishes very well also good at pressuring the other team in their own half with his high defensive work rate.

Nice! We have finally started to play a bit better since I switched to a pressing style of play. I may move Hahn to ST and see if I get the same results! Thanks!

Monchengladbach, North-Rhein-Westphalia (AP) - Borussia Monchengladbach continued its run of excellent play in the Champions League with a 1-nil victory over FC Zenit on Wednesday evening at Borussia Park. The win pushed Gladbach to (3-1-0) in Group play and leads Group G with 10 points through four matches.

Borussia Monchengladbach did it playing down a man for the final 45 minutes after Kelechi Iheanacho picked up his second yellow card just before halftime and was ejected.

Just after halftime, Thorgan Hazard was pulled down in the box and moments later converted with his fifth penalty goal this campaign over all competitions.

The defense then held tight as they packed it in and held on as Zenit pressured over the final 30 minutes. Young defender Adama Soumaoro earned Man of the Match honors for Monchengladbach. He had a couple of nice tackles and intercepted a couple of passes in the Gladbach box to help preserve the clean sheet.
