UFC Rankings Update!!

The Rankings on Page 1 have been updated!! Here are the highlights:

Heavyweight
-Frank Mir has entered the top 10 after his dominating victory over Mark Hunt. He could face Josh Barnett in his next outing.
-A logjam has been created at the top of the division with Velasquez, Miocic and JDS. Miocic faces Werdum for the title at UFC 198 while Velasquez returns at UFC FN 3 against Travis Browne.

Light Heavyweight
-Jon Jones recaptured the title at UFC 197 against Daniel Cormier. He'll likely face Anthony Johnson, who fights Glover Teixeira at UFC 199.
-Cormier has hit a glass ceiling in the division, losing twice to Jones. He could move to heavyweight, depending on his teammate Cain Velasquez.
-Shogun Rua and Rashad Evans flip spots after their war at UFC on Fox 1.

Middleweight
-No big movements before the rematch between Rockhold and Weidman at UFC 199.
-Uriah Hall enters the top 10 after his win against Robert Whittaker on short notice.

Welterweight
-The top 4 of Lawler, Thompson, Condit and McDonald have created a mini-tournament due to the injury to Lawler.
-While not in the top 10, Neil Magny is knocking on the door to be a top contender in the division.

Lightweight
-Khabib Nurmagomedov surged to the #2 spot after defeating Tony Ferguson. He'll face the champ Rafael Dos Anjos in August.
-Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone move right behind Nurmagomedov. They will probably face off in a title eliminator match.

Featherweight
-Cub Swanson's quick disposal of Chad Mendes catapults him near the top of the division. He sits behind McGregor and Aldo, who fight at UFC 200, and Frankie Edgar.

Bantamweight
-John Dodson enters the division ranked 7th, after his win against Manvel Gamburyan.

Flyweight
-Henry Cejudo drops 2 spots after losing quickly to the champ Demetrious Johnson.

No major changes in the Strawweight or Women's Bantamweight Divisions

UFC Fight Night 2: Overeem vs. Arlovski Results

Link to the LIVE Broadcast

MAIN CARD
Andrei Arlovski def Alistair Overeem by 1st Round KO (35 SECONDS!!! THEY CAME OUT SWINGING AND ARLOVSKI CAUGHT REEM WITH AN OVERHAND LEFT WHEN REEM TRIED A HEAD KICK!!!)
Bigfoot Silva def Stefan Struve by Unanimous Decision 29-28 x 2, 30-27 (strictly on the ground, Struve had some moment but it was all Silva on the ground)
Joseph Benevidez def Ian McCall by Unanimous Decision 30-27 x 2, 29-28 (huge takedowns by Benevidez won it, even if his face looked like hamburger meat)
Cat Zigano def Amanda Nunes by 3rd Round KO (very entertaining. Nunes tried to neutralize takedowns with strikes but Zigano dominated the ground)
TJ Dillashaw def Renan Barao by 2nd Round TKO (almost had Dillashaw in a few submissions but couldn't finish)

UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Arlovski Reactions

-I hope you saw that Arlovski/Overeem fight and didn't blink. Glove touch, throwing shots, back off, throw more shots, DOWN GOES OVEREEM, ARLOVSKI POUNCES, ITS OVER!!!! Andrei Arlovski is back!! He has instantly entered the heavyweight title picture with 5 wins in his last 6 UFC fights. He did lose to Stefan Struve in January but with Struve's loss, he climbs the ladder quickly.

-This was also seen shortly after the KO win for Arlovski

We'll just leave that right here. That fight will happen and is scheduled for Sept 3 on FS1 as the headliner.

-Bigfoot Silva did what he had to do to pick up a win over Stefan Struve. While it wasn't the greatest fight in the world, he got the job done. He's back on the winning side after losing 3 of 4 since losing to Velasquez in his title shot. A rematch between those two could be coming in the future.

-Joseph Benevidez was sent to the hospital after his win vs. Ian McCall. During the post-fight press conference, McCall asked the audience why a guy who won would have to go to the hospital for taking such a beating. Its well-known that UFC matchmaker ezevthokie9 is not a fan of Team Alpha Male and was even seen celebrating the recent loss by Chad Mendes.

-Cat Zigano used her wrestling to control Amanda Nunes throughout the fight. She is positioning herself at the top of the women's bantamweight division and could see a title shot in her future.

-Renan Barao nearly had TJ Dillashaw in, not one but, 2 ommaplatas but Dillashaw survived each one and finished Barao who couldn't answer shots. Dillashaw looks to have another shot at Dominick Cruz while Barao may be moving up in weight soon.

Re: UFC 2 Universe: The Best gets Better

UFC 198: Werdum vs. Miocic Reactions

-Werdum did what he had to do to retain the title. He had a safe game plan, didn't trade with Miocic on the feet and handled the ground game. Miicic had a few moments on the ground but they weren't nearly enough to even win a round.

-Werdum will face the winner of Velasquez/Browne that happens at UFC FN 3. Arlovski/JDS will happen Sept 3 at UFC FN 6. The winner gets the next shot at the title.

-Jacare Souza had a very similar game plan against Vitor Belfort. Souza's smooth transitions and submission attempts wore down Belfort until the eventual armbar. Jacare could possibly face the Rockhold/Weidman winner while Belfort most likely gets the loser of Bisping/Romero from UFC 199. If Bisping/Romero ends early, they will jump Jacare in the title shot line.

-Matt Brown slipped by Demain Maia by Split Decision in a very close contest. Brown could face off with Nick Diaz, which would be a very entertaining contest. Maia is back to the drawing board to climb the rankings.

-2 veterans Nate Marquardt and Minotauro Nogueira pulled off big wins in their comeback attempts to the titles. Both look to build off their finishes as they climb back up the ladder.

Re: UFC 2 Universe: The Best gets Better

**I'm back!! Sorry for the delay! I'm a high school baseball coach and things have been a little hectic here recently with games and weather cancelations!**

UFC 199: Rockhold vs. Weidman 2 RESULTS

Main Card
Luke Rockhold (c) vs. Chris Weidman for the UFC Middleweight title

Dominick Cruz (c) def Uriah Faber by 1st Round KO for the UFC Bantamweight title (Cruz sprawled on a takedown attempt, took mount and pounded out Faber)

Anthony Johnson def Glover Teixeira by 3rd Round KO (Tex probably won the first 2 rounds based on his big takedowns but Rumble held his own with huge shots. Finally clipped him in the final minute and ended it)

Yoel Romero def Michael Bisping by Unanimous Decision (30-27x3, very competitive fight!!!)

Frankie Edgar def Max Holloway by 2nd Round TKO (couldn't stand with Holloway so Edgar took him down and dominated)

Preliminary Card
Maryna Moroz def Joanne Calderwood by 1st Round KO (went to the ground and Moroz dominated and finished with a back mount GnP)

Ali Bagautdinov def Jussier Formiga by 2nd Round KO (Formiga rocked him in the first exchange but then it went to the round and Ali DOMINATED the fight from there)

Michael Johnson def Diego Sanchez by 1st Round TKO (1:22 seconds. Quick standup, then GnP by Johnson)
