Revisionist History - A WWE 2K17 Universe

NOTE: This is my first WWE Universe Mode playthrough, so I'll be figuring things out as I go. This is mainly a place for me to post my booking and hopefully get some input/discussion going. I'll be starting with Shane McMahon's pre-WM32 return, and changing things from there. I'm gonna try to incorporate some of the real life storylines along with my fantasy booking too.

It was a cold night in the WWE, and the Road to Wrestlemania had many potholes and bumps in it, but we were along for the ride regardless. After all, we love pro wrestling, even at its worst, and Vince McMahon coming out to present the Vincent J. McMahon Legacy Award (named after Vince, Sr.) to his daughter Stephanie, it was the worst of times. Then, when the first beat to "Here Comes the Money" dropped, everything changed. Shane O'Mac was back, and he was about to shake things up. Shane McMahon took over WWE due to a loophole in a contract he and his father had signed years ago.

Shane's first order of business was to change EVERYTHING. We were entering a new brand split. RAW (led by William Regal) and Smackdown (led by the recently retired Daniel Bryan), which was moving to Tuesday and going live, would have a draft to split all of the male superstars and tag teams amongst the two shows. Stephanie McMahon would lead a new show called WWE Revolution, an all-woman show with all female superstars in the company.

The belts were split as follows: RAW will have the World Heavyweight Championship and World Tag Team Championships, and plans to institute a Cruiserweight division with its own title in the near future.

Smackdown Live will be home to the WWE Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and the WWE Tag Team Championships.

WWE Revolution has the WWE Women's Championship as its main title, with plans to institute a secondary singles title and a tag team title in the future.

NXT has been changed from developmental to a fourth live show, airing on Wednesdays. It will be a show for talent from both RAW and Smackdown Live, who may not get much TV time on Monday or Tuesday, to compete outside of storylines and try to get over with the fans.

Of course all of this means that the plans for Wrestlemania had to be scrapped. Instead, we get the crowning of inaugural champions for these brands. The card is as follows:

- WWE Championship Fatal 4-Way: AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens vs. John Cena vs. Roman Reigns

- Eight-Man Tournament for the World Heavyweight Championship: Brock Lesnar, Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, Dean Ambrose, Neville, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, The Miz

- WWE Women's Championship Triple Threat: Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch

- Triple Threat Intercontinal Championship Ladder Match: Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler

- World Tag Team Championship Match: The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper/Braun Strowman) vs. Lucha Dragons (Kalisto/Sin Cara)

- WWE Tag Team Championship Tornado Tag Elimination Match: The New Day (Big E/Kofi Kingston) vs. The Revival (Scott Dawson/Dash Wilder)

Re: Revisionist History - A WWE 2K17 Universe

World Heavyweight Championship Tournament: Round 1

#1 Brock Lesnar def. #8 The Miz via pinfall (2.5 stars) - Squash match plain and simple. Brock jumps The Miz during his entrance and had him in the F5 within two minutes. Afterward, Brock attacked The Miz and F5’d him again, this time on the outside. Why? Because he’s Brock Lesnar.

#5 Neville def. #4 Dean Ambrose via pinfall (4.5 stars) - An instant classic. Neville worked heel the whole match, but got a standing ovation after the win. Ambrose hit Neville with Dirty Deeds early, but not enough damage had been done to Neville to score the win. After a Red Arrow a few minutes later, Neville hurt his own ribs and wasn’t able to get to the cover quickly, and Ambrose kicked out. Neville was livid and threw Ambrose out to the apron, then giving him a vicious sunset flip power bomb to the outside. Neville then followed with a breathtaking moonsault from the top turnbuckle to the floor and rolled back in to try and get the countout win. Ambrose barely beat the count, and the two started brawling, busting each other open. A few minutes later, Neville landed his second Red Arrow and scored the win. It was an incredible achievement for Neville, but he has to face Brock Lesnar in the next round, and we do not like his chances.

#7 Baron Corbin def. #2 Finn Balor via pinfall (3.5 stars) - Balor attacked early, but missed on an attempt at the Coup de Grace, and seemed to tweak his knee. Corbin noticed that and took advantage, applying a single leg crab a few times after that. Finn kicked out of three Deep Sixes and countered Corbin a couple times, before it was finally the End of Days. Corbin will face the winner of Shinsuke Nakamura and Bray Wyatt.

#3 Shinsuke Nakamura def. #6 Bray Wyatt via pinfall (4 stars)
- Nakamura took a lot of punishment in this match, and had some of his signature strikes blocked by Bray Wyatt. At one point, it looked like Wyatt had the win with a Sister Abigail, but Nakamura kicked out at two. He reversed a Wyatt uppercut and hit a reverse exploder suplex to set up a running Kinshasa for the win.

WWE Tag Team Championship Tornado Tag Elimination Match

The Revival def. The New Day via submission (3.25 stars) - Big E was eliminated first by a Shatter Machine. Afterward, The Revival dissected Kofi for an uncomfortable five minutes or so before Kofi reversed an irish whip by Scott Dawson, throwing him out of the ring. Kofi hit Trouble in Paradise on Wilder and had him down, but Dawson broke up the pin, chop blocked Kofi’s knee, and put him in the inverted figure four for the win.

__________

Triple Threat Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match

Dolph Ziggler wins (3 stars) after Cesaro hit a Neutralizer on Jericho at ringside, the Dolph hit the Zig-Zag on Cesaro after he came back into the ring.

Re: Revisionist History - A WWE 2K17 Universe

World Heavyweight Championship Tournament: Round 2

#1 Brock Lesnar def. Neville via pinfall (2.5 stars) -Lesnar took his time here. Neville was beaten from his battle with Dean Ambrose earlier, and Brock toyed with him. A low dropkick and a single enziguiri were all that Neville were able to get in offensively. Brock gave him 15 german suplexes and two F5s before pinning him. After the match, Brock viciously grabbed Neville and put him in the Kimura Lock, and snapped his arm in half. Brock had to be removed by about a dozen security officers and referees. I’m not sure I’d want to win this next match if I were Nakamura or Corbin.

#3 Shinsuke Nakamura def. #7 Baron Corbin via pinfall (3.25 stars) - Corbin came out on fire, picking up where he left off against Balor, but when he went for the End of Days, Nakamura countered into an armbar and started to take control. When Corbin kicked out of a glancing Kinshasa, Nakamura kicked it into high gear and finished him with a Kinshasa from the middle rope. Nakamura’s prize is a match with ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar for the World Heavyweight Championship.

World Tag Team Championship

The Wyatt Family (Braun Strowman & Luke Harper) def. Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara y Kalisto) (1.75 stars) - Luke Harper discus clothesline on Kalisto for the pin

__________

WWE Women's Championship Triple Threat

Sasha Banks def. Becky Lynch via pinfall (4 stars) - An instant classic. Charlotte was face down in the ring after a double team by Lynch and Banks, then The Boss turned on Becky and got the win with a vicious neckbreaker

__________

World Heavyweight Championship

#3 Shinsuke Nakamura def. #1 Brock Lesnar via pinfall (4 stars) - Lesnar continued his mean streak by attacking Nakamura during his entrance, but Shinsuke saw the attack coming and sent Lesnar into the ringpost to gain an upper hand. Lesnar got a lot of offense in, but Nakamura never let him get an F5 in. Three Kinshasas later, a bloody Shinsuke Nakamura stood tall as World Heavyweight Champion, and Lesnar was sent to the hospital with a concussion.
