The wrestling world is familiar with the story that Vince McMahon in mid 2019 brought his former enemy turned employee Eric Bischoff back into WWE to be in charge of Smackdown but after only 4 months of being brought back he was replaced and let go.
Fast forward to mid 2020, in news that shocked the wrestling world, as part of the agreement to nullify his contract, Eric Bischoff got the rights to WCW from WWE.
This means that WCW is back and ready to take the wrestling world by storm.
Bischoff understands its a new time in wrestling and has made the following announcement about how things will work:
"WCW is returning to entertain the wrestling fans around the world, and we will be doing it with 2 weekly shows, Monday Nitro, and Thunder taking place on Thursday nights.
But the business has changed since WCW last opened its doors which is why things will be a little different, the roster will be divided between the 2 shows. Men on Nitro, Women on Thunder. With the best on each shows competing once a month on pay per view.
As owner I will not be putting myself on television in any way and instead will be hiring a General Manager for each show and they will have total power. Who they hire, fire, who is booked when, will all be on the two individuals I trust to help carry WCW and the business into the future."
