Thomas "Hitman" Hearns scored flash knockdowns of Jackie Fields in the 4th and 8th rounds, while landing 37 more punches (148-111) than Fields in their Friday night bout. Despite this, Hearns suffered an 11th round knockdown and had to sweat a majority decision on the cards. Hearns improved to 8-1-0 (3), Fields fell to 4-4-0 (2).
WW- Milton McCrory defeats Jose Napoles by KO at 1:44 of Round 7
Milton McCrory stunned the Friday Night Fights crowd with a 7th round knockout of Jose Napoles. Napoles, who has underachieved as professional, falls to 7-3-0 (5). McCrory improved to 8-1-0 (6).
WW- Barney Ross defeats Marty Servo by TKO at 1:38 of Round 1
Barney Ross, who is now 8-0-1 (5), made a strong case for a Welterweight title shot on Friday night. Knocking Marty Servo down for a 7-count, then stopping him moments later, Ross handed Servo the first blemish to his record and will fight again on Monday night next month. Servo is now 6-1-0 (1) and will, almost assuredly, lose his ranking as the division's number one contender.
