Definitely going to be interesting and I knew you'd be all over that match up!

I'm hoping for a retirement or two this month and I'm also interested in the main event. Simon is a good fighter but not #1 contender good. He needs to be knocked down a peg and I'm hoping Lewis can do it.

I'm playing the Saturday night card now so I'll have an update later tonight depending on how long these fights go.

July 2001 UBF Saturday Night Fights
Results

Jake Kilrain defeats James Tillis by Unanimous Decision
Judges: 94-93, 95-92, 97-89
Jake Kilrain notched his first win in the UBF on Saturday night. Kilrain was knocked down in the 4th round but he knocked his opponent down in the first and two more times in the 8th. A somber Tillis announced his retirement from boxing in the post match press conference. Tillis finishes his UBF career with a record of 1-4-0 with one knockout.

James Braddock defeats Chris Arreola by Majority Decision
Judges: 98-93, 96-96, 97-94
Neither fighter hit the canvas in a well-fought bout that went the full 10 rounds. Braddock, per CompuBox, landed 80 punches to Arreola's 62 which likely made the difference in a close decision.

Frank Childs defeats Denver Ed Martin by TKO at 1:50 of Round 7
Childs knocked Martin down in the 7th round and then finished him with a barrage of punches after the matched resumed following a 7 count. Unsurprisingly, Martin announced his retirement from the ring immediately following the announcement of the result. Martin lost all 4 of his fights in the UBF.

Note: The scorecards through 6 rounds were: 57-58, 58-56, 57-57.

David Tua defeats George Chuvalo by Unanimous Decision
Judges: 97-95, 96-94, 96-94
Two powerful heavyweights went toe-to-toe in an outstanding display of strength and skill with Tua narrowly winning on all three scorecards. Tua, to his benefit, landed 102 punches to 79 for Chuvalo.

Note: Fantastic fight and I'd love to see a rematch. Tua scored a handful of punches landed in the final minute that may have made the difference between this result and a majority draw. It really was that close.

Lennox Lewis defeats Abe Simon by TKO at 2:30 of Round 1
After a great night of fighting, the main event was a bit of a letdown. Lewis punched Simon woozy and then pinned him against the ropes and continued the assault until the referee stepped in. Lewis' victory has caused a real shakeup in the rankings at the top of the heavyweight division.

On Sunday morning, the new UBF rankings were released and a pair of new fighters have entered the fray. Puerto Rican Jose "King" Roman will enter the rankings at #31 and Chicago's "Kingfish" Levinsky will enter at #30.

August 2001 UBF Thursday Night Fights
Results

David Tua defeats Sam Levigne by TKO at 2:25 of Round 6
Despite being heavily outclassed by Tua, Levigne went toe-to-toe with the unbeaten contender and almost lasted the full 6 rounds. Tua landed 77 punches while Levigne landed 28 of his own but the final Tua blow ended the bout as Levigne suffered a horrific gash to his right eye. Tua is now 7-0-0 with 5 knockouts.

Abe Simon defeats Duke Sabegong by Unanimous Decision
Judges: 59-53, 58-56, 59-55
Simon, fresh off a 1st round TKO by Lennox Lewis, looked sluggish in this one as Sabegong took him the distance in a fight with no knockdowns. Per CompuBox, Simon landed 74 punches to Sabegong's 25.

Lennox Lewis defeats Tunney Hunsaker by KO at 1:30 of Round 3
"Sluggish" is not a term that would by used to describe Lewis as The Lion landed an impressive 52 punches in 2 and a half rounds while his opponent only landed 2 on a 2nd round counter. Lewis improves to 4-1-1 with 3 knockouts.

Marciano-Jefferies?? Yes please!

That Tua-Chuvalo fight was exactly how I'd expect it to go down in real life.
Glad to see the result was on point.
George will be back baby!

I'm terrified to have Marciano lose (or really even draw) a match. With so many incredible fighters in this universe I know it's inevitable but I'm still terrified of the moment that it does.

Chuvalo will be fine. It's going to take some luck for him to ever be the champion but as long as he can stay in the top 10 he will have a chance to challenge the champ. Then it comes down to one fight and, as we've seen, anything can happen at that point.

August 2001 UBF Saturday Night Fights
Results

Jerry Quarry defeats Bryant Jennings by Unanimous Decision
Judges: 99-91, 100-89, 99-90
Quarry dominated throughout and knocked Jennings down in the 6th round. Quarry, who landed 130 punches to just 51 for Jennings, faced little resistance except for a couple of facial injuries. Jennings opened a gash above Quarry's right eye in the 8th round and a cut on is left cheek in the 10th. After seeing his UBF record fall to 0-4-1, Jennings announced his retirement following the fight.

Buster Douglas defeats Jose Roman by TKO at 2:09 of Round 8
Roman was knocked down twice in his UBF debut, in the 4th and 5th rounds, and eventually the fight was stopped in the 8th. Douglas has won three straight after losing his first three fights.

Henry Cooper defeats Luther McCarty by Unanimous Decision
Judges: 97-90, 96-92, 96-91
In a war of attrition, Cooper outlasted McCarty to win by unanimous decision. Cooper suffered gashes to both eyes and had to have his left eye checked by the doctor a total of three times but he was allowed to continue. Meanwhile, McCarty hit the canvas in rounds 2, 6 and 7 but he managed to go the distance.

Buddy Baer defeats Donovan Ruddock by KO at 0:50 of Round 2
Baer surprised most spectators with the early knockout of Ruddock. Ruddock has seen all 6 of his fights end by knockout. He's knocked 4 out for his wins while being knocked out in the first 2 rounds in his defeats.

James Jeffries defeats Rocky Marciano by Unanimous Decision
Judges: 97-93, 99-94, 97-96
Analysts almost unequivocally agreed that this fight was a lot closer than the scorecards indicated but they also agreed that Jeffries won the fight. The former champion landed 112 punches to Marciano's 110, a better indicator of how tight the bout was. Marciano suffered a gash above his left eye in the opening round and then a cut to his left cheek that appeared to worsen a couple of times as the match progressed. Jeffries left ey was cut in the 5th round.

When the UBF released their new rankings on Sunday, the Los Angeles born "Alameda Assassin" Lou Nova aka "Cosmic Punch" had entered the top 40 at number 31.
