Re: A Dreamer's Nightmare (Alt RW / 1998)

WCW Thunder
Thursday, Week 4, January 1998

A recap is shown as Mike Tenay summarizes the nWo's 5-on-3 beatdown of Sting and the Steiner Brothers Monday on Nitro.

We go straight to the ring where Raven is already in the ring, sitting against the corner with a microphone. He begins ranting about all of the focus being on guys in another company, and wants to know...what about Raven? Before he can continue, the music starts for his opponent tonight; Steve 'Mongo' McMichael.

Raven's Rules Match
Steve McMichael vs. Raven w/Lodi
In a Raven's Rules match, Raven defeated Steve McMichael in 5:53 by pinfall with an Evenflow DDT.

After the match, Raven's Flock hit the ring and begin beating down McMichael while Raven calmly sits in the corner of the ring. Mongo is trying to fight back, but the numbers are too high...

That's when Chris Benoit hits the ring, grabbing Kidman by the shirt and easily throwing him out of the ring. As he and Mongo begin to clear the ring, Raven calmly rolls underneat the second rope and exits to the back, a wounded Flock follows.

Barry Darsow vs. The Giant
In an extremely short match, The Giant defeated Barry Darsow in 3:04 by pinfall with a Chokeslam.

Backstage, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are hanging out in the nWo locker room when Hall tells Nash that he's ready for The Giant this Sunday. So ready, he won't need any help. Nash looks a bit surprised by Hall's comment and asks if he's sure. Hall slaps Nash on the upper arm, takes a toothpick from his ear, puts it in his mouth, and walks away.

Owen Hart vs. Alex Wright
In a decent match, Owen Hart defeated Alex Wright in 11:42 by submission with a Sharpshooter.

After the match, Owen Hart is confronted by fellow wrestler and friend Jeff Jarrett. It appears Jarrett is questioning Owen's alignment with his brother, and thus WCW. Owen tells Jarrett that blood is thicker than water and he needs to mind his own business.

Mean Gene is backstage with Chris Benoit and Steve McMichael. Before Mean Gene is able to get a word in, Mongo steps up to him irrate, and says he's tired of guys like Raven and his drones. Mongo continues, saying the next time he sees any of these flea bags, there's going to be some serious trouble as Benoit tries to calm him down as they walk away.

Backstage, cameras find Sting somewhere that looks like a warehouse or receiving area of the arena as Lex Luger walks up. Luger tells Sting he's been looking for him to talk about the potential trouble of the WWF stars and the potential trouble it will be if one of them wins this Sunday. Sting doesn't respond to Luger, just continues to stare off in the distance. Luger tries to get his attention again until Sting stands upright, puts his hand on Luger's shoulder, as if to say everything is going to be fine, then walks away.

Disco Inferno vs. Norman Smiley
In a bout that had decent wrestling but non-existent crowd heat, Disco Inferno defeated Norman Smiley in 3:35 by pinfall with a Chartbuster.

Backstage, Eric Bischoff is with the nWo and talking about the WWF stars coming trying to get rid of WCW. Bischoff says we cannot let this happen. The nWo as a whole seems to not be interested in what Eric is saying. Hogan speaks up and talks about how they made an impact, and this is another moment for the nWo to show why they are just to sweet!

Lex Luger vs. Vincent
In an extremely short match, Lex Luger defeated Vincent in 3:03 by submission with a Torture Rack.

After the match, Lex Luger is met in the ring by Mean Gene. Gene asks Luger about the attack from Randy Savage a couple of weeks ago, and his involvement in Savage's recent loss. Luger says he's not out here trying to play games, so he's challenging Savage to a match this Sunday to see who the better man is.

As we return from a commercial break, Scott Hall is already in the ring with a microphone in hand. Hall says some of his closest buddies aren't convinced he can take The Giant down, so he wants to conduct a little survey. Hall asks how many people want to see The Giant chokeslam him, or how many people want to see him beat down that Giant. Despite both questions getting the same reaction, Hall claims it's one more for the bad guys!

Ric Flair vs. Steven Regal
In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Ric Flair defeated Steven Regal in 16:07 by pinfall with an inside cradle.

Returning from the commercial, we find the New World Order, in full, in the ring. Eric Bischoff says the time has come for Vince to put his money where his mouth is before being embarrassed this Sunday. Bischoff talks about the legacy he has built in WCW since taking over as President after being a C-string announcer. Bischoff takes credit for bringing in Hogan and Savage, and also for forming the nWo itself. Hogan takes the mic, but he's unable to get a word in before the crowd's attention is taken up with a commotion.

As Vince and the WWF stars make their way over the guardrail, the nWo have migrated to one half of the ring. The WWF stars stand at ringside as Vince is the first to get up on the apron and enter the ring. The WWF stars follow. It's a sight to behold; Eric Bischoff and the nWo staring down Vince McMahon and the WWF. Then, the crowd begins to cheer and get louder as WCW wrestlers make their way to the ring.

Several WCW wrestlers make their way to the ring, some getting in the ring; others hesitating to stand side by side with the nWo. As Bischoff begins throwing verbal jabs at Vince, the nWo manages to back out of the ring, leaving Bischoff on his own with the few WCW wrestlers in the ring! They've abandoned Bischoff! As Bischoff realizes this, he begins to look worried. Vince begins rolling up his sleeves as Eric looks nervous as the other WCW wrestlers enter the ring, more to see what is going to happen next.

Suddenly, Sting drops from the rafters next to Bischoff and drops him with a Scorpion Death Drop! He looks at Vince and says "This one's mine" before turning his back, stretching his arms out to the WWF stars. With a smirk to the WCW wrestlers, they rush past Sting and jump the WWF stars as Bischoff slips out of the ring. It's chaos! We have to go! Don't miss the Royal Rumble live on Pay Per View this Sunday!
