MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB, PREMIER LEAGUE

Kensington releases his starting 11 ahead of new season after pre-season showing

AUGUST 1, 2021

Thomas Kensington has revealed the probable starting eleven who will kick-off the season at home to Leeds United in two weeks. There are some surprising exclusions but first...

Gabriel Barbosa • The 25-year old striker, who was previously linked to Old Trafford a couple of seasons ago has confirmed he is moving to United after Brazilian club Flamengo accepted a £20m bid for the striker. He's likely to start up front with Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo in Kensington's preferred 4-3-3 formation.

Rashford's not happy, neither is Lingaard • Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard both declined to accept new contracts which would have drastically reduced their salary. Manchester are happy to loan out Lingard but expect Rashford to produce for United for another season. Both could be on the outs next summer.

Bye, Bye to the bums! • Manchester United have reportedly accepted a £33.8m offer for Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Atletico Madrid. Eric Bailly is off up North with Manchester accepting a £15.5m bid from Newcastle. Is Harry Maguire next?

A somewhat hot commodity • Manchester United are reportedly interested in centre-back Oscar Mingueza of Barcelona, who is likely to be loaned to Granada by the end of the transfer window. United have been interested to bring him to the EPL. However, it's likely he's going to want to start at Granada than play a rotational role for the Red Devils.

The Starting XI • A 4-3-3 holding formation with David De Gea between the sticks and as a captain. Back four consists of Dalot, Varane, Lindelof and Shaw. Midfield composed of Fred, McTominay and Gallagher and upfront is Ronaldo, Barbosa and Rashford.

MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB, PREMIER LEAGUE

Matchday 03 Recap and the week ahead

AUGUST 30, 2021

Manchester United are coming under a lot of heat by the national media for remaining winless in their first three fixtures of the season. Manager Thomas Kensington told media at his Monday morning press conference he isn't worried by the drawing. "I'll get worried when we begin losing. It's still early in the season."

Gabriel Barbosa • Kensington confirmed Gabriel Barbosa suffered a bruised shoulder in their draw against Wolves which is why the Brazilian had to leave the pitch early. According to Kensington who consulted his medical doctors, Barbosa could be ready for the contest against Newcastle this weekend but he's unsure if he'll be match fit ready.

Harry Maguire • Manchester United rejected an £8m offer from Arsenal for the disgruntled and out-of-form centre back, who very much needs a change of scenery. United are unwilling to sell him this season. How much will the defender be worth in 12 months?
