Early in the 3rd Springfield forward C. Atkinson ran goalie J. Pogge knocking him out of the game and a huge line brawl broke out and the end result was a 5 on 3 powerplay for Springfield. Coach MacNeil was livid with the call and after Springfield scored on both the powerplays MacNeil was so enraged with the call he threw some hockey sticks on the ice. The referee had had enough and he was ejected from the game. As his assistant coach would finish the game Calvert would convert the hat-trick with 5 minutes left the game and give his team the 4-3 lead. The former Binghamton player C. Bass would tally the empty netter to ice the game. |
