    NBA 09: The Inside

I just picked up NBA 09: The Inside from Game Stop for $4.99 (pre-owned). I found it much more fun than NBA 2K12. It is obviously less realistic by a long shot but I love how you play the game.

    Cons:

    * Unrealistic Animations - guys like Perkins, etc can windmill in NBA 09: The Inside (probably has to do with dunk rating)

    * Can't edit anything?? (In 2K you can edit players gear such as Headband, Shoes, Sleeves, Calf Sleeves, Socks, Contracts, etc. Most importantly you can edit attributes;certain guys like Lamar Odom, Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, etc have significantly outdated gear.

    * Players are too light (K.G. seems like only player with correct skin color, guys like Rip Hamilton, Jason Terry, etc have a light brown (hispanic) color when in real life that isn't how they look.

    * The courts are a little to shiny.

    * Everyone has same free throw shooting style

    * No create a player or team section

    * If guys get HOT they can swish 3s from half court

    * Have unlimited free agents

    PROS:

    * I love NBA: The Life mode

    * It has a lot of re-play value

    * Game of Week is awesome it is just like EA's Madden Moments

    * It is really fun to play!

    My suggestion to Sony.

Make it exactly like MLB The Show except for basketball. Make it have the same features such as attribute, accessory, shoe, etc. Add a create a player mode and you guys already have a Road to The Show type game mode with The Life. I heard you guys were re-booting the entire game but you guystopped? Why? I loved NBA 08 and 09. If you guys don't want to waste time, please make a $19.99 - $39.99 PlayStation Network downloadable game. It will easily beat out NBA Jam and other sucky downloadble games.

    Re: NBA 09: The Inside

I have played this game on the PS3 (as well as '08). I had Billups with 2-3 amazing dunk-contest-like dunks (reverse jams, tomahawks...you name it!). If only this game had sliders and allowed us to edit players...It could have been saved...

The way I see it: Sony stuck with the same thing for several years without listening to those who had been asking for some edits. It's as if Sony was saying: "Nahhh, you're all wrong and we're right. Suck it! Oh, and please buy our game. Thank you".

To me, if you don't care about The Life and you want a game that actually plays like basketball, you have no reason to play this...well, maybe except for the graphics, which are not bad.

No wonder Sony gave up on their basketball game. Seems like they couldn't wait to give up on this one.

PS: You thought 2K had canned animations? LOL

Yea, this game was a joke if you wanted to play a realistic game. If you could edit gear and or create player that didn't have to do with "The Life" this game would have been much better.

One thing I couldn't figure out about dribbling, is how do you dribble behind the back? You know, the half twirl downwards from side to side in most NBA 2K's. How do you do it in Sony's game?

I picked it up for five dollars and felt ripped off.

Defense is literally non-existant, I played straight man on man defense and even with one or more guys on a shooter, they would make a contested shot 8/10 times, both sides would regularly shoot .800 in a game, it killed the life because of defensive goals becoming more difficult, it took me a while to get done with the goals dependent on defensive accolades.

If they brought it back, they would need a massive overhaul, it just was not fun at all..

So...how about those offensive rebounds by the CPU?

Mine didn't come with a manual/booklet? Can you guys tell me how to "jabstep" for the shooting guard challenge (The Life)?

It's a matter of taste. To me, it COULD have been a solid game, but Sony refused to let it be. They insisted on making the game what THEY thought was solid. A matter of taste, again.

Yes to me this is the funnest NBA game i've ever played but SCEA didn't make it the best game. If it was like MLB The Show people would be buying PS3s just to play The Show and The Inside.

I thought the dribbling system was supposed to be deep. But it seems like it only has some hesitation, spin and crossover. Did I miss anything?

No you didn't miss anything, although you can jabstep I just don't know how? For "The Life #2" in the 2nd or 3rd challenge they ask you to do a commericial and they ask you to "jabstep" I don't know how since my game didn't come with a manual (did yours?).
