![]() WEEK 9 RECAP OPPONENT PREVIEW Boise State and UNLV started their rivalry back in 1972 with the 2 schools meeting 6 straight years splitting the series 3-3, before taking a break from each other and not facing one another until 2011. Since then BSU has owned the Rebels winning 9 straight including a 44-20 victory last season. GAME RECAP Despite BSU having shown dominance over UNLV the past 9 years, these teams came in pretty evenly matched and with similar records and it showed. Tied (7-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter the score remained the same until UNLV added another touchdown with less then a minute to play in the half as the home team takes a (14-7) lead into the half over the Broncos. BSU opened the 2nd half with a touchdown on the opening drive but UNLV would retake the lead with a 38 yd FG late in the 3rd Quarter making it (17-14) as we enter the 4th. With BSU's Ashton Jeanty on the sideline with what intial reports was calling a dislocated shoulder and backup RB Jambres Dunbar also out of action, the Broncos play out of the shotgun with 4 and 5 WR set's most of the 4th Quarter and it worked as the UNVL secondary couldn't stop BSU's Malachi Nelson who threw his 3rd and 4th TD's of the day to give BSU the (28-17) lead with less then 2 minutes to play. UNLV however would manage a late score but a failed onside kick attempt left Nelson with the ability to just kneel out the clock as BSU picks up the much needed road win coming off their bye week. ![]() WEEK 10 RECAP OPPONENT PREVIEW When it comes to a meeting between Boise State and San Diego State on picking a winner, it's basically a coin clip. The 2 schools have met 9 times since 2011. BSU one the first matchup, then SDSU won the next 2, then BSU won 2 in a row before SDSU won 2 more and now BSU is back on a 2 game winning streak. The odds would actually lean toward SDSU winning tonight and if you only tuned in for 3 Quarters it sure looked like they were going too. GAME RECAP San Diego State jumped out to a early (7-0) lead followed by a pair of FG's by both teams to make it (10-3) at the half as a BSU scoring drive is halted with a Nelson INT in the endzone. The Aztecs would extend their lead to (17-3) early in the 2nd and then fan's were given either a great display of defense or a horrible display of offense as both teams combined to punt 6 times until BSU settled for a 38 yd FG to make it (17-6) at the half. The Broncos continued to struggle putting together drives that resulted in points well San Diego State extended their lead with yet another score to make it (24-6) going into the 4th. But for BSU the 4th Quarter was what all Bronco fan's and Coach Scott were wating for. The offense started clicking as Nelson throws 3 TD's to give BSU the (25-24) lead with just under 3 minutes to play. SDSU had a chance to retake the lead but missed a 49 yd FG and with 31 seconds to play BSU would add their 4th score of the quarter as Jambres Dunbar takes it in from 6 yds out as BSU kicks to the XPT after 2 early failed 2pt conversion attempts giving them a 8 point lead and the victory. FINAL SCORE BSU-32 SDSU-24 KEY PLAYERS QB-M. Nelson-21/34 (61%) 297 yds 3 TD 1 INT, 12 carries 22 yds RB A. Jeanty-10 carries 66 yds , 2 rec 14 yds RB J. Dunbar-3 carries 35 yds 1 TD WR P. Re: The Making of a Legend. The Career of Coach Scott CF25
Happy to have a Deuce dynasty on the boards again! Looks like Coach Scott's offense has been pretty good so far - having someone as talented as Malachi Nelson helps, of course. What kind of playbook are you using?

Quote:
I use the Boise State playbook as a base, but add in some more plays and custom it more to my liking. I have typically always ran a 4-2-5 Defense cause that is what BSU uses, but I take over a team as a HC I might try mixing it up and creating a custom playbook there too. Not sure yet. |

![]() WEEK 11 UPDATE OPPONENT PREVIEW The Boise State vs Nevada rivalry dates back to 1971. The Broncos and Wolfpack were rivals in the Big Sky, the WAC and now the MWC. BSU has traditionally been favorites in the matchup's over the years winning 31 out of 44 meetings, but Nevada did manage to win 3 years in a row (1996-1998) averaging over 55 points a game against the Broncos and are most famous for upsetting the Broncos in 2010 in OT ruining Boise State's perfect season and a chance at a spot in the National Title game. Would today another chance at a upset? GAME RECAP Boise State dominated the 1st Quarter jumping out to a early (14-0) lead and extended the lead to (28-7) at the half behind 4 TD's from USC transfer 5* Malachi Nelson. Nevada however owend the 3rd Quarter picking off Nelson once and holding the Broncos out of the endzone as they score twice to make it (28-21) as we head to the 4th. BSU would extend their lead early as Nelson throws his 5th TD of the day to make it (35-21) but the Wolpack battle back scoring on back to back series to tie the game (35-35) with 42 seconds to play in regulation. A Jonah Delmas missed 46 yd FG would send this game into Overtime. This would mark the Broncos 3rd Overtime game of the season, both other games (Oregon/Utah State) resulting in loss's. BSU would win the toss and elect to play defense. Nevada quickly scored make it (42-35) but Nelson would guide the Broncos down to the 5 yd line before throwing his 6th TD of the day to RB A Jeanty out of the backfield to tie the game (42-42). RS Freshman WR Nate Burleson II following in the footsteps of his father comes up with a huge play grabbing the 25 yd TD as Nevada wastes little time adding another score making it (49-42) but Nelson wasn't going to be denied this time as Nelson breaks the Boise State Record held since 1974 by Jim McMillian with his 7th TD of the game. Faced with a decision of a 3rd OT period and a automatic 2PT conversion attempt, Boise State OC Ryne Scott sent out the offense early as the Broncos looked to win it now against a gassed Wolfpack Defense. The decision paid off as Jeanty walks in the 2pt score for the victory.... FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-50 NEVADA-49 KEY PLAYERS QB M. ![]() NELSON MAKING HISTORY When Boise State landed former USC Trojan 5* and former #1 QB in the country Malachi Nelson, Bronco fan's wondered. Just how good would this kid be. Well after a 7 TD performance against Nevada, Nelson's name is already in the BSU record books and his 33 TD's on the season ties him 5th with Jim McMillian for 5th in a single season and with potentially 4 games to play many think the great Kellen Moore's 43 in 2011 is within sights. Coach Scott "Malachi is having a great season and nothing to take away from Kellen but I think we could see potentially a 50 TD season from this kid. We got 3 games to play plus potentially a MWC title game plus the playoffs. Moore's TD record in a single season isn't the only BSU record that Nelson has his sights on. Currently with 2795 yds, Nelson avg (302 yds per game) could very well also challenge Ryan Dinwiddie's 4356 yds thrown in 2003 and would have a solid start at Moore's career #'s of 14,667 yds and 142 TD's |

![]() WEEK 12 RECAP OPPONENT PREVIEW Boise State and San Jose State have met 16 times ****** back to 1978 with the Broncos winning 15 of the 16 matchups. The Spartans lone victory game in 2020 when the Spartans beat the Broncos in the Mountain West Title game giving San Jose their 1st ever Conference Title sadly in a closed door contest with no fans in attendance due to Covid regulations. GAME RECAP BSU opened the game recording a Safety and then scoring a TD early in the 1st Quarter to take a (9-0) lead, but San Jose answered back with a score on their 2nd series to make it (9-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter. A 33 yd FG by Kylder Halvorsen with 13 seconds to play in the half would give the Spartans the (17-16) going into the locker room. A Johan Delmas FG late in the 3rd would give BSU the lead back (19-17) and a early 4th Quarter TD by Nelson made it (26-17) as this game appeared to be over. But the Spartans were not going down without a fight as Halvorseen would go on to kick 3 more FG's in the game after the Spartan Defense comes up huge as San Jose ties the game (26-26) to force yet back to back Overtime games for the Broncos. The Spartans would win the toss and elect to go start on Defense. BSU would quickly score as Nelson throws TD #4 on the day but the Spartan Offense manages to convert on a 4th down before scoring their own TD to tie the game yet again (33-33). BSU for a 2nd week in a row make a huge call after scoring their 2nd TD in the OT period with a Aston Jeanty 12 yd run, Coach D and Scott draw up another 2 pt conversion play to perfection as Nelson finds 6'5 Prince Strachan for the score to make it (41-33). The Bronco D then stepped up stopping the Spartans short of the endzone as BSU moves to 8-2 and one step closer to a spot in the MWC title game at (5-1) and a 3 way tie with Fresno State and New Mexico with 1 loss in MWC play. ![]() WEEK 13 RECAP OPPONENT PREVIEW Similar to the San Jose State history, the BSU vs Wyoming matchups since 2002 have been very 1 sided with the Broncos winning 17/18 of the schools games. Wyoming's only victory came in 2016 in Laramie (30-28) led by none other then current Buffalo Bill's QB Josh Allen. GAME RECAP The Cowboys knew that their only hope for a victory was to slow down the Broncos new star QB in Malachi Nelson and they did a pretty good job of it in the 1st half but the Broncos adjusted and went to the ground game with the duo of Aston Jeanty and Jambre Dubar as they rush for 86 yds and 2 TD's to help BSU take a (14-6) lead at the half. With Nelson having a record breaking season with the help of a very talented receiving core, Jeanty has sorta got lost in the game plan after a almost 200 yd performance in Week 1 vs Georgia Southern. Coach Scott Quote:
Down (35-6) with less then 5 minutes to play, Wyoming would finally find the endzone making it (35-13) but BSU would extend the lead with a Delmas FG to make it (38-6) with just under 2 minutes to play. The Cowboys however were going down without some sort of fight and would manage as JR QB Evan Svodoba hits SO WR Evan King on a 49 yd bomb for the touchdown.
