Re: SGO Discusses Potential E3 Reveal of 2K's Upcoming NFL Game

Maybe I'm different than the other guys, but the main thing keeping my excited about this release is seeing how it plays and if it does lay a foundation down for the return of the NFL 2k sim franchise.

If I see great animation fluidity, physics based interactions, a locomotion system as good as the NBA 2k21 system on next gen, and more, then I'll be even more convinced they are building for the future.

If it is a completely off the wall whacky game that shows no foundational work for the sim franchise to return, then I'll obviously be less convinced.

Essentially I'm excited for this because I want to see if it paints any type of picture for the future and what we can potentially expect.

If we get a 7 on 7 game that has very realistic player movements and whatnot, then I think it would be very safe to assume they're working towards the series returning soon. If we get something super arcadey then it makes the prediction a little harder to make.

Yeah thats one of the biggest questions for me other than obviously the number of players on the field.

I think 11 on 11 is a pipe dream now but
an 8 on 8 arcade game developed by VC would be exciting.

2k's game (s) can still feature 11-on-11. That's basic, fundamental football and isn't confined to or owned by the NFL nor EA. Now, whether or not 2k goes that route remains to be seen but 11-on-11 is well within the realm of possibility for their football title(s).

We honestly don't know that. The contract that EA has with the NFL will have a list that lays out what other games are allowed to have and not to have. That list could very easily say any other game with NFL licensed players cannot have 11 on 11 football.

There are no NFL licensed players but I get your point. We shall see.

What do you mean? 2k struck a deal with the players union. I think we can expect the game to feature actual NFL players.

I think you misunderstood me. The NFLPA (which represents the players) is a seperate entinty from the NFL. That's why I stated there are no "NFL licensed players". NFL licensed stadiums, team names, uniforms and logos, yes.....players, no.

They also have an agreement with the NFLPA. You started the thread.

Can you help me understand why people who clamor for the sim play of the old days would be excited for a 8v8 arcade game?

Not trolling, I truly don't understand the excitement over this.

Canes21 pretty much explained it a few posts ago.

Realistic movements, line interactions, etc would make me excited if done right. Even if it's a little over the top, it could still play a good game imo.
