I would think allowing which side and direction to press will help with playing cover 1 press if you have the right corners and what not

Here is the key to this -- we need to see loss and win animations.

Having something akin to a rock, paper, scissors minigame is not the route I would have went, but I can live with.

What I'm worried about is if the game uses clear win/loss animations it doesn't really fix the problem of past years.

I don't like this. Just more button combos to press. This type of stuff should be playing out naturally by the players. Like the different catches. In real life a wide receiver doesn't think "hey I need to make an aggressive catch" he just makes and adjustment to the ball and does what he needs to make a catch.

Seems madden is really trying to push that "stick skills" stuff.

IMO. To be fair, before the aggressive /possession/spec/RAC catch buttons, the community was angry when a WR did a animation that didn't any sense. Falling to the ground instead of turning up field.

I'm more comfortable saying "dang I pushed the wrong button" as opposed to saying "Dang it AI why did you do that!"

At the end of the day it's a video game right? If I play Battlefield, I don't just move my dude into position and have him shoot because he just should. Surely the more control the player has, the better? Just my opinion.

In real life you DO, however, decide which direction you're going to try to press a WR, and as a WR, you DO determine a direction you're going to try to use to beat press coverage.

Is this just for MUT Squads? Will I be able to utilize it if I control a corner in my CFM? Most importantly, will my CPU players utilize any of this?

I'd like to be able to utilize this without controlling a corner. If I'm expecting a slant, let me choose to have my corners jam the WRs to the inside presnap while I control a d-lineman

I mean this should be a part of the play call anyway, but since it isn't, it should definitely be a presnap thing.

No doubt. After looking at the screenshot a few more times and thinking how this plays out, it may not be too bad. And, for user v user, specifically, I can see this being interesting for team play, 4 sure. I prob will never play that, so in regards to how this will play out in offline CFM with mostly AI v AI, I think this will offer more dynamic plays, anyways. And, I'm sure we're all hoping that it's not a constant 'win scenario' for either player. The fact that a press happens doesn't necessarily mean your WR is stuck at the LOS, I don't think. There will be some upfield fight and if DB continues to be aggressive past 5 yards, he will get called for a penalty. So, the risk/reward is there. And, actually, this will make playing CB much more interesting, specifically if/when u feel the need to hardcore press a WR. U can take matters into your own hands. I like that type of control.

As with speculation on anything madden b4 we get game footage, lol, it's all about 'what exactly does this look like?' Because, as a QB, this will bring more variety to what you're looking at. If u want a slant, and the DB gets a big win press and your WR is chucked, this can really throw u off. But, really, on any pattern, if this gives even a 1 sec difference in where your WR ends up during the play, u may have to check down due to a nice press. So, yeah, actually, I think I'm looking forward to seeing this play out. And, again, anything they give to humans to do, the CPU can do as well, so these individual 'fights' will offer more dynamic play, and I'm all for that. The hope, of course, is that the CPU is tuned properly, so that outcomes are 'good' or 'correct', and not 1-sided.

And, hopefully, press and beat press ratings factor this as well. I mean, obviously they should, but again, it's the tuning. Does a 99 beat press WR instantly beat a 50 press DB no matter what buttons/sticks are pressed? Lol. And/or, does it just determine the 'strength' of the press or something? Hopefully, they thought of those types of things when creating this. Again, that will make the whole thing more dynamic and will make those ratings more important, hopefully.
