Yep, it's out.

Re: YAAAAA! Demo is out
You do not own a PS 3 also do you? If so could you please check if it´s there too?
Might not be the case since PSN only updates on thursdays...:frown: |
Re: YAAAAA! Demo is out
Wonder if the demo has framerate issues too?
|
Re: YAAAAA! Demo is out
Just been playing the demo a few games. I suck at hitting, but have always had trouble with the hit stick. But I love the new pitching. Can't imagine jumping into a game and playing with it and not going through the tutorial first though. The 5-10 mintues I spent in the tutorial has really helped make it fun. Most of the runs I am giving up are from honest hits or my terrible fielding since for some reason I keep wanting to press the right trigger to make my outfielder go faster. Too much playing my hockey game I guess.
Anyways, the demo is pretty fun. |
Re: YAAAAA! Demo is out
After playing a few demos games i can see both sides of the impressions. I dont know if this demo is very similiar to the retail version however.
I would say the graphics are not special at all, and the game did stutter somewhat on OF and transitions (like the batter coming to bat, etc). I think the batting swing stick is still pretty weak. Plus, i didn't swing at the first two pitches even once and only one was a one in the three innings. On the plus side, i did like the pitching and new fielding throwing changes. The stutter wasn't horrible for that matter and the bat sounds didn't bother me. If i didn't read any impressions and the 360 was my only option i think i would still be on the fense about this game where i would have gotten it for sure otherwise. |
Re: YAAAAA! Demo is out
What are the teams for the demo and how many innings can you play?
I definitely want to check the demo out after the impressions and reviews being mixed. |
Re: YAAAAA! Demo is out
Red Sox and Rockies in Fenway and you can play three innings. Plus the pitching tutorial is in the pause menu once you are in the game as well.

Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
A possible reason that the demo framerate is better than the final game is that the framerate problems are a result of the game caching to the hard drive. Since the demo runs straight from the hard drive, the framerate issue shouldn't be as noticeable.
As for the demo being released after the game....shame on you 2K. I can't help to think that this was not a coincidence. |
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
must say i'm rather surprised by 2k put this game out like this. the framerate is killing the flow of the game for me. stutters, and pauses all take away from what could have been a great game. grfx are not as lively as 07. glad i didn't open the game. i would've been piiiiissed!!
what scares me is with al this talk about EA buying T2, this effort does not help(T2). and what will be come of NBA2k9?! lets hope a patch can possibly correct the FR issue... |
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
It would be great if someone who has the game could play the demo and let those of us who are going to be playing the demo know how it compares to the full game.

Give me a freakin' break. Anyone with half a brain know what went on here. I honestly feel bad for the guys convincing themselves the game is somewhat enjoyable just so they don't feel like they just wasted $60. Obviously guys are genuinely liking the game... but I'm sure there are a few making lemonade out of those lemons. Terrible, just terrible. |

The framerate on the Retail version of the game is much choppier than the demo. |
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
i guess Brinkman meant early march :(

It's probably better the demo didn't come out first or else people would have been REALLY upset if the demo was "chop-free" and the retail version was not. |
Re: YAAAAA! Demo is out
AND IT FINALLY HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just that OBVIOUS Pared. plus the 360 crowd NEED to convince themselves this games good. it's their ONLY baseball fix...unless they have a PS3. |

Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
It pisses me off in some way. I wanted to pick this up for the 360 despite the system being a ticking time-bomb to get some play over XBL.
Then I read all this garbage, how there aren't online sliders and so forth and I can't even consider this a purchase now. No idea when I'll get the chance to rent it, either. Ugh. Now, according to Flax, the demo isn't even a true representation of how the game plays. I'd like to know what happened from the "glowing" previews from the guys here at OS to the result we have now. I've even had 2 guys tell me similar through PM's. Some Vets don't even want to post in the impressions thread to continue with the negativity. I don't blame them. |

I have to disagree here. I have played every baseball videogame the last 10+ years and I can get games relatively cheap, so I'm not trying to convince myself of anything. With that being said, this game is a breath of fresh air and does so many things really, really well. It's really sad that people are so quick to pass judgement on the game and think it's trash when it's actually really impressive. Is it perfect? No. Is it the Show? No. But it immerses you in playing baseball like no other game can. |

The unfortunate part of all of this is that the Xbox 360 consumer who loves baseball and only has once choice, gets hurt (unless they enjoy the game). |
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
Pretty sad that it's becoming normal for companies to release unfinished games, charge $60 for them, and then promise to fix the issues next year. If it's a 3-year plan to get the game to be good, don't expect me to dish out money for the games in between that are a work in progress.
This series went down hill for me when I was excited to play some 360 baseball, boughtt 2k6 on release day and the disc didn't even work until they released a patch! This isn't too surprising to hear this game has some unfinished-type issues with it. |
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
Just played the demo... and it's no wonder they had it held back.
I'll have to leave it at that as to not upset the sensitive individuals in this forum. I honestly think they could have done more. Seems like it could be a passable video game, but an attempt at simulation baseball? .... |
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
So is it true the demo runs smoother than the retail game? If so, I guess I'll pass this year...the demo wasn't bad but it was STILL a bit choppy at times...
|
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
I'm downloading it now, but I'm prolly buying the game either way unless the demo completely turns me off because I didn't notice the framerate issues last year so it shouldn't bother me this year.
|
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
I'll download the demo when I get home today. If I like the gameplay enough, I'll give the game a shot. I have a feeling the framerate issues won't bother me, but we'll see.
If I just don't like the game that much, I might just buy CH 2k8 this week and wait until a patch and/or price drop on MLB 2k8, especially I'm not really in a baseball mood yet. |

Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
After playing the demo through a few times, I think this can be a great game if it gets smoothed out in a patch or something. The actual gameplay is fantastic. I picked up the pitching right away and it's really fun. I even like the swing stick which I hated last year.
I hope they can patch it. |
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
I'll d/l the demo tonight if I still don't have the retail version in my hand.
Sheesh this is really early Feb. LOL |

Apparently even that ruffled "fishstick's" feathers. My mistake for having an opinion.
The demo was great. Can't wait to get the full game. Best baseball game ever! |
Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 Demo Available
What I find ironic is that the people here who are enjoying the game were most likely the same ones who were vocal about how wonderfully smooth Madden '08 and NHL '08 played because they ran at 60fps without any hiccups. They further commented that there was no way they could play the PS3 versions of the game because they ran at 30fps and the frame rate stuttered. Now, the shoe is on the other foot, and they're trying to convince themselves the frame rate isn't a big deal.
Now, you know what us PS3 gamers had to go through with Madden and NHL. As much as you want to spin it, it just wasn't good enough. |
