NCAA Football 10 Preview

I am a Miami Hurricane while my good friend back home loves the Florida Gators. We can already envision our football school rivalry transforming into an online-dynasty classic for multiple seasons. Thanks to the new competitive recruiting options, it will be an even more intense fight of program prestige and recruiting power. The Gators will no longer be stealing the five-star athletes from the U under my reign as head coach.

really wish there was some news about presentation

Striefer 06-02-2009 01:26 PM

Good read =)

michfan16 06-02-2009 01:28 PM

looks good

Hokie20 06-02-2009 01:53 PM

There hasn't been any denial about team entrances and presentation. I would assume most are being told to not mention it for one reason or another.

jusmegamer 06-02-2009 01:56 PM

So, can we choose to play a playoffs instead of bowl games? I dont think this has been added yet but would be a welcome addition.

Bumble14 06-02-2009 02:47 PM

BOWL PATCHES! BOWL PATCHES! BOWL PATCHES!

PLLEEEEEASE EA!!!!

Looking forward to this game, even if Madden seems to have taken bigger strides this season. I just hope we are one day able to see an NCAA game as complete as NCAA 04 on PS2.

marcoyk 06-02-2009 03:30 PM

can't wait for july 14th!

Re: NCAA Football 10 Preview

If team builder is your biggest improvement then that to me seems like a serious priority issue.

Re: NCAA Football 10 Preview

The gameplay section, had really nothing to do w/ gameplay

ab2c4 06-02-2009 04:46 PM

A.I. was not mentioned at all (at least not that I saw). I was really hoping that would have been the main focus for EA. Oh well, we shall wait and see how it turns out.......er.....I will let you guys buy it and let me know how it is.

bigjake62505 06-02-2009 05:21 PM

I hope that the picture of crabtree is from last year! If those running animations are not fixed I will break something.

uraz3r0 06-02-2009 05:35 PM

I don't love the idea of guys running around with 4.2 speed fully padded, but it's better than last year it sounds like.

SBartlett 06-02-2009 06:00 PM

According to the producer, team builder was the most requested feature. Not mine.

I must have missed that poll!

SBartlett 06-02-2009 07:09 PM

As far as the game play issues that plagued last year's game, the adaptive A.I., and team entrances, maybe Chase can get those specific questions in for you all at E3. We don't have a copy of the game yet so it's hard to cover those things until we do.

He should be reporting back soon tonight. Thanks all.

-Steve

SBartlett 06-02-2009 07:10 PM

If he doesn't, i will get those questions answered for you all as best i can.

deaduck 06-02-2009 07:38 PM

I think this might be the year I just get NCAA and not Madden or at least hold off for awhile

blackscorpion11 06-02-2009 10:22 PM

First , can't wait to play this game ... We all bash this game because nothing is sadder than unfulfilled potential and ncaa 2009 had a ton of potential.. They didn't mention A.I. changes, only added featues to help give more defensive control? Time will tell if this game is finally offensively and defensively balanced. They talked about adjusting the 40 times.. the problem wasnt how fast the players were, the problem was that all the speed was on offense, 90+ speed players were a dime a dozen on offense, but hard to recruit on defense..especially if you had a smaller school ..

On the positive.... this game can only get better.... can't get any worse..

thats both , really funny and really sad.- next gen has been a bunch of crap so far- 2k8 isnt that bad once you play it for a while- that wasnt to start crap- just mentioning what i've done lately.

Tycobbler 06-02-2009 11:44 PM

I like to play coach mode. Madden is supposed to have AI control over the QB on pass plays. Is it safe to assume NCAA will do the same?

SWeet can't wait for the game.

DirtyBird 06-03-2009 07:01 AM

that makes me want to get a ps3

loyshon 06-03-2009 05:47 PM

I agree with bumble 14 , Ncaa 2004 is EA best football engine today...how they continually go backwards is beyond me...anyone taking bets that both live and march madness 2010 will be awful

clayshime 06-03-2009 06:05 PM

why is there a paragraph on recruiting promises? They had this last year

sportzbro 06-03-2009 06:28 PM

Re: NCAA Football 10 Preview

Thanks for the article Steve.

Quote:

Promises can be made to the athletes targeted during the off-season. Make sure you live up to your word though, or your coach’s integrity will decline. This will result in less players believing in your promises during the recruiting process.
Why is this highlighted? It was in 09.

Quote:

The computer will now pursue the ball carrier with the appropriate angles, even during jukes and spins.
Call me crazy, but isn't that how the game should work?.. Amazing stuff like this even needs to be addressed by the dev. team.

Quote:

EA Sports and the Tiburon NCAA Football team started improving their game’s high-energy crowd by adding realistic atmospheric effects to the game. These subtle effects go a long way to add a polished feel to emulate the college stadium energy.
Please EA, feel free to share these improvements.. Windsocks? Bands? :smirk:

Quote:

Also, Lee Corso and the gang will be back, after providing new material at EA Tiburon’s studios.
This means about 4 or 5 new one-liners

Quote:

users will now be able to attack a rival school’s integrity with Competitive Recruiting.
This is honestly the only peace of info I have seen about dynasty updates.. Is this really the only thing that has been added? Don't get me wrong, I like this addition, but it can't possibly be the only thing... Can it?

project_mist 06-03-2009 11:15 PM

Steven Bartlett... are you being paid by EA to write the preview? What kind of preview is this? Did you actually preview the game, or did EA give you a list of things to write about? You make the game seem perfect, no negatives huh... SMH

My thoughts exactly. Reads like a press release.

SBartlett 06-04-2009 10:19 AM

nah lol, i do not have the game or anything. the preview is a compilation of information out there available at the time so this was the best we can do until we get a copy. then we will write something as a hands on impression.

i appreciate the feedback, i understand you all want to know if certain issues plaguing the game were addressed but its real tough to tell at this point. this is just highlighting what has been added on, some good additions in my opinion. i know promises could be made, i just wrote it bad i guess. but i was trying to emphasize the way you can attack the opposing school's recruiting tactics.

thanks guys.

-Steve

stateprop 06-05-2009 02:06 AM

THNX for the preview steve. Man they are still far behind from madden. Last gen it was usually the other way around. Man im really having doubts but i wait for your guys review. I dont get how camera flashes, or windsocks improve presentation. Wait a minute there is no refs on the field wtf.

blackcaesar3k5 06-07-2009 02:59 PM

They had them from 2004 onward, I believe, but they only included some of the teams, not all of them. And the rosters were terrible and were for 2004. They never updated them for the remainder of last-gen's lifespan, so even in NCAA 07, if you played as a 1-AA team, you were playing with a 2004 version of them (And even the 2004 version rosters were badly done).
