Looks like a good idea, except it's too risky. I have a better chance of returning it for a score without the risk of a fumble simply by running with my best return man...

Besides, Hester pitching to Knox seems backwards...

Might come in handy for online team play though... :D

It's certainly legal... it's not crazy silly execution. But it is DANGEROUS. He made the allusion to the risk of fumbles, but he never showed any. Having had to setup a similar lateral situation on a few occasions when trailing late in games. All failed miserably. IMO, it's simply not worth the risk/reward. I've either fumbled the toss or came away with worse field position than if I'd just setup a normal return.

I have more opening kickoff return TD's with normal returns than total return yards as a result of the lateral...

I wouldn't say it's cheese, but it looks that way when you only see the ones that work for a TD. The 15 fumbles he didn't show are the reason it's not cheese. :D

Didnt a rookie on the steelers score a TD on a lateral return this year? Doesnt seem like cheese to me. But just like a random onside kick og hail mary, its a big risk.

?? How is this cheesing when they use it once in a while in the NFL. I mean if someone uses it over and over again. Then I would say cheese. I thank it is fine to honest.:y7:

This is cheese. It's just taking advantage of Madden's glitchyness.

what isn't cheese, is a play that would actually be designed to set up blocking and running patterns for the intended reverse like this

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FZIcx87UeKE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FZIcx87UeKE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Not cheese... It's the reason there's a lateral button. Which is a recent addition to Madden in the last 6 years.

When a player intentionally moves to setup the lateral, executing the play to setup for the lateral. You can't execute a lateral ANY OTHER WAY on a kickoff.

There are very few plays in Madden that are designed for voluntary laterals. Practically all the laterals in Madden are pitches and tosses. So when should we use the button?

Button's existence coupled with the fact that there are few plays designed for it's use should imply that any play in which we want to use the voluntary lateral must also be executed differently... Suggesting this execution is cheese because of it's use of the lateral button is basically saying it's cheese to use the lateral button at all.

In which case, I ask... Why is the lateral button there? I'm guessing so every time it's used we can call it cheese...

Doubtful.

This is Cheesing the CPU b/c they dont contain well.......you can stop the big return easily as a human player. I don't see the problem.

I didnt listen to audio, but we aslo didnt see the unsuccessful attempts. So he may not even be cheesing the CPU. All in all, should be easily stopped if you contain the outside...b/c he is giving up the ball carrier hoping to exploit no containment on the outside.

At the beginning he mentions how dangerous it is because of the fumble risk... I assume he's aware of the fumble risk because of number of times it was a fumble in practice... But those are all on the cutting room floor. Also edited out are all the times the lateral was good but the return man didn't get any yards...

Also, in the final play, there are two user players on the same team. They may have meant for this to be used in Team Play.
