Whats the best recruit you have landed?

What is the best recruit you have landed? I want to hear what everyone else has done recruiting-wise in this gen's game.

I used to be able to land 80-85 overall dual-threat QB's in the old gen but not anymore. I remember when I was UMass back in the day I signed a dual threat QB with like 85 Speed and 84 Pass Accuracy. Ended up winning me Back to Back national titles.

My buddy always talks about his favorite QB ever named Dan Bobo who he was un-beatable with haha.

I'm necessarily saying it has to be the overall freshman rating, but maybe some of you have developed some really good talent. There has to be some good stories.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

I landed a 5 star DE that was like 6'1 210 and he had 89 Speed and Acelleration.

Atheletic beast but couldn't do that much with him.

But in my OD he could quarterback spy all of the people that had quarterbacks that could run.

blkrptnt819 07-08-2011 08:44 PM

One that stands out, not the best was a 3-4 OLB that I would have dominated with if we had the ability to have Will/Sam linebackers.

My best was probably on NCAA 11 was a 4* Juco (So) DE. He won 3 Bednarik Awards.

My best since I've been playing NCAA is Brad Wade. 98spd 99acc on my 2009 dynasty with FSU. I got him out of OH. My boy was OSU. I think 4 of the 5 users were recruitng him. If we could port dynasties that would be the one. He came in as a 78 and he lit the country up. He's BY FAR my best recruit.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

It was a DE by the name of Mike Haggar; I think he was the number 2 rated DE prospect in his class, I landed him, he was about a 79 to start, but had beast acceleration and speed, and by the time of his junior and senior season he was unstoppable and could get me a couple sacks a game

Also, I did create him, but no guarantee I would land him and he wasnt rated perfect form the get go, rated just like the other top DE's

Same thing with Freddie Mercury, created him, one of the top RB's in his class...I created him to be like barry sanders...he had speed like no other...not very big, but elusive.

I cant really remember the names of generic recruits...

Would probably have to be in my Eastern Michigan dynasty. Recruited an athlete that I saw had pretty good THP named Mike Jackson. Brought him in and he became an immediate starter at QB (was something like 67 OVR with high 70's SPD, ACC, AGI). I had been using a spread option the year before so he fit in perfectly. Started for 3 years and led me to 3 MAC titles. Helped that I had gotten 2 transfers. One a RB from Mich. St. named David Spears and the other a WR named James Jackson from Ohio St. who nearly won the heisman for me one year. Ultimately got invited into the Big Ten before I quit. Was a really fun dynasty.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

Mine was the first player to commit to me in NCAA 11 (All I had to do was offer a scholarship).

He was a 5 star WR (#1 player in the class overall). I cant remember his rating as a freshman, but he ended up being a 99 by his JUNIOR year.

He was 6'6" about 215lbs. He was amazingly fast for his size (around 97-99 speed and acceleration). He sort of reminded me of a Calvin Johnson or a faster + taller Brandon Marshall. I gave him #17 (because he's a beast).

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

I remember a QB in my UTEP Dynasty named Will Blankenship, he had a + Arm & + Accuracy to go along with 80+ speed. He was definitely a great QB to have after Jordan Palmer graduated.

Probably not my best recruit but definitely my favourite player. Robert Greco. 6'7 250 lb QB (not created by me) with my Notre Dame dynasty. he didn't start till his RS sophomore season but the dude was just unstoppable. He was a 99 in his RS sophomore season, 99 thp, 99 tha, 99 awr. He had 75 speed as well and wasn't bad at the break tackle. Big Ben, but better. Made sure he came in with a great overall in my franchise and he took the pack to 15 straight superbowl titles before retiring, the greatest to ever play the game. Also won 15 MVPs and 3 Heismans. He had close to 60 000 yards when he retired.

Had some great DE's and linebackers as well... Greco is my favourite by far though...

I have to admit, i had to look him up. But i must say, that is an impressive pro stat line.

I'm Australian and haven't followed college football very long, always been a packer fan though. I liked Notre Dame because of the cool helmet, thought it look bitchin'.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

not the best overall recruit like most poeple are saying but during my Oregon state Dynasty, Jaquizz had just left for the NFL and i got a Senior who was 88 overall and 3* freshman who was 70 overall and very fast. in my first game the Senior broke his leg, so i had to put in the freshmen and he kill. it was unreal, no matter what the diffcultly it was he would tear things up, i think he was 5'9-5'10 170-180pds and like i said before very fast, also i think it was a glitch some of the time, because i played on heisman and he would break every tackle

With Middle Tennessee State I landed the top recruit in the country an ATH from California. I was in a recruiting battle with USC for him I won, only for him to be a FB...He is damn good though MTSU is in the SEC now (Kentucky got kicked) he has good hands and is pretty fast so I use short passes to him all the time.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

A few candidates:

ATH Thurman Pierce - 92 spd 85 thp 79 tha

DE Brandon Jackson 89 spd b acc, agi, fmv, bsh

I've had a couple of 99 ovr 99 thp 99 tha third year pocket passers. Too bad ncaa is built for speed rollouts and lacks the passing touch / depth to get the value that madden pocket passers habe.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

My best recruit was a JUCO transfer, does that count?

#1 RB in the country, 5'10 98 speed 95 acceleration. Set records with him and won the Rose Bowl as Oregon State. He was very injury prone though..

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

I was able to snag the #1 overall recruit in a class one year. He was a QB, scrambler, with A- speed, A+ acceleration, and B for throw power and accuracy and he was overall 99 by his junior year. I redshirted him because I had a senior QB that I wanted to keep so he could finish his career. His sophomore year he ran for 1100 yards, and threw for over 5500 with 70 combined TDs. I ran the score up on every team I played. There was no mercy. I beat #15 ranked OK State by 84 points at their place during that season. It also really helped that my top 4 receivers all had ratings north of 90.

In my UVA dynasty, I just recruited a guy who really seemed like an odd-ball, but I wanted to beat out Bama for a 5 star guy and landed him.

He turned out to be a fullback and is a monster. Love using him in short yardage situations and with a good throw out in the flats.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

Three come to mind:

Ben Gates. I was playing with ECU of all people, and he was my first 4* recruit with them (I think it was '10 though...) and he just tore people up in the C-USA. I think he came in at 86 OVR as a freshman, mid- 80's speed, acc and blockshedding= animal.

When I was playing with Penn State I recruited a 5* FB...yes...a 5* FULLBACK. And as you know, you don't realize how much a FB can dominate until you get a dominating FB-- he was a stone PIMP. Came in at 85 OVR with high 80's sp and acc...so sick, had at least 4 'cakes a game.

The last one was in '11-- James DeAngelis. He was an 4* ATH that I recruited with Wyoming-- but I put him at LB with his 93 SP 92 AGI and 94 ACC; 6'3" 240 lbs. Man-Beast...no one could block him and he picked off everything...especially since I was playing with him. I've never dominated quite like I did with him at the helm. In fact I miss him...:usa:

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

Mine was back in NCAA 09. I was Miami, trying to build them back up to the Canes of the 80's. I signed 2 QB's about 6 years in, one was a 4* dual threat and the other was a 3* balanced. The 4* was a 83ovl with 85spd and the 3* was 78ovr with 97acc and 81spd. I red shirted both since I had 2 Sr's and a RsJr. The next season I used the first game as a battle to win the starting job. I started the 4* who played like crap. He was now a 85ovr but threw pick after pick. I pulled him after 3 straight picks. In comes the 3* who I didn't have much hope for and the 3rd QB was my now RsSr who I had zero plans to play. The 3* was a beast. He ended up winning the job and started for 4 years.

He won a heisman, 2 NC's, Davey O'Brien, Maxwell, set records for school in passing yards, passing TD's, and NCAA record in passing TD's and missed the passing yard record by less then 100yds. He ended up as the 5th pick in the draft when exported to Madden.

The 4* guy ended up transferring after his RsSo year to FIU where he played 1 year. In the 3rd game of the season I played them and knocked him out for the year. He ended up in the Madden draft class. He was a 4th round pick.

Don't remember his name but I landed a 4 star QB that ended up 99 overall after his sophomore season. He came in at like 81. His progression was insane.

That is still the only time I ever landed a recruit that was 99 by his junior season.

He was a Andrew Luck type QB. Good mobility and a cannon arm. Once a lifetime recruit for Michigan State (that was the team I was controlling).

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

Last year I had a nose tackle who could blow up the middle of any offensive line. Can't remember any specifics because it was at the end of my dynasty run, but I remember calling a lot of 3-3-5 and Quarter formations on defense simply because I knew that this guy could get to the QB in about 3-6 seconds and disrupt the running game.

Just a lot of fun to play with.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

I'll give you my best two ever, one on offense, one on defense. Back on NCAA 2008 I started a dynasty w/ Hawaii and that lasted 10 years. During my second season I recruited a WR out of Texas named Bo Martin. He was a 4-star and I was behind Texas all year, but finally landed him at the very end of the season.

His 4 years he caught 496 passes... I throw the ball a lot and play 10 minute quarters, he also had 106 TD passes receiving, catching 29 one year. He stayed all 4 years too. When he finally graduated he had every single school and NCAA receiving record and 3 Heisman trophies as well.

After Hawaii, I went to Colorado and landed a 4-star CB named David Richards. He ended up w/ 44 career interceptions and 16 INT returns for TD's, both records.

Martin was number 17 and Richards was 37... those two guys made me love NCAA 2008!

Somewhat off topic, but I was wondering if anyone has ever landed a recruit that was a *HUGE* flop. (i.e. Jevean Snead from Texas or Tate Forcier from Michigan) Someone that was promising when you signed them, but never got it going.

I did. Signed a JUCO(JR) 88 OVR QB. A rated in THA & THP. But was super slow. Even though I ran a prostyle O, I couldnt play well with him. Was excited to get him, but was a waste. I played better with a 78 rated faster QB.

Yes. At Colorado I signed a 5-star CB who had great speed, acceleration... he had great everything. Yet he couldn't cover for crap. Seven games into his Freshman season he had given up so many TD passes that he was a hindrance on the field and cost me two games. I benched him for a 3-star and the D improved vastly.

The rest of that year and the whole next year he was the 8th CB on the depth chart and then finally asked for a transfer. If I could have done it, I would have personally driven him to the airport!

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

My best recruit would have to have been from NCAA 06, in a dynasty with my bro and our friend. In like our 3rd year I snagged a 6'7" FS with 95 speed, named Marvin Espinosa. I think he came in as an 83 and was a 99 by his Junior campaign. If you remember that game and how advantageous height was, you would understand how dominant he was. I think he finished with like 45 picks in his career, a Heisman and 3 or 4 Thorpe awards. Got him with Penn State and he and Justin King together in the secondary was murder.

My best was an ATH that came in with 99 SPD 98 ACC 96 AGI and hit power in the 90's as well, his best position was MLB so I played him there as a freshman he was a 93 OVR, I wont the Heisman his senior year in a 3 man online dynasty and defensive poy and lb 3 years in a row

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

Last year in NCAA 11 I landed a 5 star CB that had speed 97 acc 96 man d 95 and zone d 93, but his tackle was only like 50. That being said, I started him his freshman season, and for four solid years, he took #1 WR's completely away. He didn't win any awards, or have glorious stats, but that was because they *NEVER* threw his direction. He was a complete shutdown corner, it was amazing. I somewhat abused my trust in him, and stacked the box, leading to me having the #1 rush defense in the NCAA as UConn only 2 years into the dynasty.

Robert Lawrence

6'3 215 pound FS. rated #1 FS and #1 overall prospect.

came in as an 89 ovr.
had 98 speed and his catching was I think 75 or so.
absolute monster.

Had to redshirt him because my starting FS was rated a 96
after his redshirt year he was a 94, and then 99 as a rs soph

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

NCAA 07:

I don't remember the name for these two recruits but I was simulating seasons while coaching Florida.

The first was like a 3* ATH who was about 6' 215 or somewhere in that range. A true athlete, he could have played at QB, HB, LB, CB, FS, and DE. I ended up plugging him in at SS (he had 82 or so speed). He redshirted for a year, and since he was still behind a highly rated SS I let him play in the nickel. Freshman All-American, and All Conference awards. He went on to become a two time 1st team all-american, and won the Jim Thorpe award.

The second was a QB while at Florida. I had the sim set to running a flexbone option offense, and in comes this QB who probably a 4* QB at one point but had just never played. Come his senior season he stepped in and went to town throwing for 3500+ yards, running for another 1000+, winning a heisman, and a national championship.

NCAA 09:

I was in an OD (Pro Style) playing as Cincinnati. Within my first or second year I had to replace almost all of my defensive starters so my MLB position was handed over to a 3* recruit out of Ohio named Chris Herron. At 6'3 240 he had all the size, but maybe not the athleticism you wanted (78 speed). He progressed really well throughout his career. He left after his junior season (damn that glitch) and he had reach 86 or 88 overall. He was a two time all-american, and I even managed to break 100 tackles with him during his junior season.

NCAA 11:

I played 9 seasons in an online dynasty with the Legends League, and I took home 3 national championships. Needless to say I had some great players during my time.

The first in the infamous Marcus Guidry who garnered a lot of hate from my rival at FSU. I had left Miss. St. after one season to join Miami. I was going to have Jacory Harris for one season, and I was certainly worried about the barren QB situation. During the season I pulled in a 4* QB and a 4* JUCO QB who was in the ESPN150.

Despite this success, and a surrounding amazing recruiting class (this class would go on to anchor the team for four years), I still wasn't to thrilled about what would happen to my QB situation the next season. Off-season recruiting came up, and a new 5* QB appeared by the name of Marcus Guidry.

I entered a fierce recruiting battle for him with the Georgia and FSU users (though I started at no. 1 and felt confident that he was never going anywhere else.) I entered into an illicit back room deal with the FSU user that resulted in him backing off, and allowed me to close out on Guidry.

The rest is history. Guidry went on to win a national championship his freshman year (a team starting a mess load of freshmen all over the place), and another one his junior year. He re-wrote the Miami record book, finished over 15,000 yards passing, and even broke the NCAA record for career TD passes (which the dynasty TTU user had previously broken). His senior year he came up short of another national championship appearence (damn FSU), but he still took home a Heisman trophy and all the other offensive hardware he was eligible for.

After Guidry finished his playings days, I did what Urban Meyer should have done when Tebow graduated, and took my services elsewhere. I wandered down to LSU. I had a few stud defensive players that I didn't personally recruit, but they were there for my three year stint.

MLB Tony Galloway - 6'1 250lb MLB with 91 speed. This man was the anchor of my defense. He was all over the place making tackles, interceptions, and crushing ball carriers (ask AuburnAlumni). He came out with a vengeance in his senior season and won LB of the year on the way to a national championship.

FS Matt Hawk - 6'4 224lb with a lot of speed, and strength. Unfortunately he was behind a FS who had the same amount of eligibility as him. I took a page out of the Packers playbook and used the nickel 2-4-5 as a base defense and moved Hawk down into the nickel (despite less then ideal coverage ability). I even played Hawk at MLB in the 3-4 in a few instances. He flourished, and it resulted in two All-American nominations as well as being one of the team's leading tacklers.

CB - Brian Crews- 6'2 194. Just a tall, and rangy guy. I didn't think much of him during his sophomore year since the CB opposite of him was a stud recruit who played up to hype. Starting in his junior season Crews went on a tear of shutting down receivers and making QBs pay for looking in his direction. He finished with LSU records for interceptions in a single season, career, and even broke the NCAA single season record. He was a force to be reckoned with.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

In NCAA 10, I was in a need for MLB, luckily he was in my backyard in Texas ranked #1 overrall but he listed Longhorns #6. Within 3 months into the season, he chose to commit Texas! Yes!! I did promise him that he'll start his freshman year and will defeat texas' rival. So during off season his overall was 84. I used 3-4 defense and all my 4 LBs were 90+ overall. So I moved one of the LB to DE and made my defense even better. So by the end of his 4 yrs career. He won 2 LB of the year and even placed 4th in Heisman finalist and won 3 national titles. His overall was 99. So I saved his class for madden but I was disappointed that he was a 3-4 rounder pick. Should've been top 4 pick!

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

Ive got a few:

In my USF dynasty I landed a 5-star RB named Rick Richards. He was 5-9, 185, kind of undersized but SO elusive. His freshman year he rushed for over 1400 yards and 20 total TDs (14 rush, 6 rec.) Then his sophomore year he led USF to the National Championship with over 2600 total yards (1,925 rushing, 340 recieving, and the rest were kick returns). He was a beast at everything and had 3 games where he went over 200 rushing yards. Best game was when he rushed for 230, caught for 45, and had 6 total tds (5 rushing, 1 kick return) at Cinicinatti. That season he won the Doak Walker, Walter Camp, and Maxwell but finished 3rd in the Heisman race behind a QB from Texas and a Miami QB who won the award. But USF played Miami in the National Championship and my rb got MVP of the game and we won. But then in his junior year, I lost 4 of 5 veteran lineman so he rushed for only 1300 yrds and had only 12 total tds....

Another good recruit I had was a 5 star CB named James Hunt and was a beast his Freshman year with 4 int, 11 pass deflections. By his junior year he had 11 career ints, but CPU QBs would rarely throw in his direction his junior year since he had a 91 overall rating. So instead I had a SS that season have 5 ints, 2 tds, and he ended up winning the Thorpe but Hunt was so dominate he made big plays the few times the ball was thrown his way. It remains my best pass defense also which finished 5th by the end of the season. I miss that secondary....

So far in my Online Dynasty (Starting with San Jose State) I have 5 three star caliber players, none really stand out to me. They all have one or two good ratings but many flaws. The rest are 2 stars and crappy 1 stars.

I think I'm in for a tough year this year! :frown:

Know how you feel, I started a UAB dynasty and right now my recruiting isnt too good.

Bad thing is my team is plagued with injuries. Ive lost David Isabelle (QB), Greg Franklin my second string RB who was doing really good, and my best pass rushing OLB. Funny thing is ive got a WR who is now playing 2nd string RB and he is actually better than my 1st stringer!!! This guy is like the CJ Spiller of Conference USA.

Re: Whats the best recruit you have landed?

Ryan West, my first five star athlete I signed in my Dynasty this year. The guy literally would not drop the ball, even with the crazy dropped passes this year on AA difficulty. His post routes were money even though he wouldnt really beat the DBs on him. He was like 6'5 220 by his senior year and a 99 overall by his Junior year.

I also have the most athletic punter ever (last name Phillips, cant remember his first name, but hes black, was a 3 star recruit and is a 96 in his senior year. He passes like a second string QB and I can fake punt pass on 4th and short all day long.

Dual-Threat QB. 85 speed, 96 throw accuracy as a FRESHMAN! Would be a 90+ overall if his awareness was higher (doesn't matter, cause I control him).
