College Hoops is it coming back a question for the Devs Team. Since we knw if College Football making it's return next year what does that mean for the best game that was ever made in College Hoops 2k8?. I mean they have the build already in place to get it done all they would need to do is add the pieces and atmosphere and bring the it and add in emporting to send players into the next NBA game along with their stats and awards history...This would be big and would add so much to the Next NBA 2k game.What u guys think since the Mods have got the game and things looking so good as they do now..?

I really hope so. I am watching the EA College Football game process closely. Hopefully, the game can release with most of the real players and no legal issues. If so, I can see 2K jumping back into College Hoops once the last gen devs leave the PS4/XB1 behind. I see what 2K has done with the Jordan Challenge rules and gameplay and that's just in a mode, not a whole game.

I just don't think there's enough interest/money to be made from a college basketball game. I love college basketball year round, but the vast majority of people really only pay attention during March Madness. Now, if they were able to get the real player names/likenesses then maybe that would bring some additional appeal. Also, if they did something where you could play a career college and then your created player straight over to MyPlayer (and perhaps give you VC/badge boosts that you can only get by completing a college career), maybe you could entice enough people who don't care about college ball but want the maximum out of the MyPlayer experience to purchase the game.
But as is, even if the dev team uses as much of the NBA 2K foundation as possible, I just don't know if there's enough interest in the sport to justify the development costs. I hope I'm wrong though. I still pull College Hoops 2K8 out of the closet every once in a while.Comment

I was a huge fan of the early days of EA's March Madness series. I really loved those late 90s and early 2000s days of college basketball but I feel like the interest is not there anymore. The thing that made college basketball fun to watch was seeing players stay for 2-3 years and watching them develop. With the "one and dones" it makes following college basketball and little more difficult because you have to learn who the top players are every year. That's the good part about college football because you know those players will be around for 2-4 years. It would be cool to see classic edition teams added to make a college basketball game more appealing.Comment

I dont think it's so much about hype anymore. The gaming landscape has changed a lot since College Hoops heyday. I think that if 2K can create a different enough experience from NBA2K with College Hoops then it could find its place online as well as offline. I'd wager only a fraction of NBA2Ks 10 million plus buyers are huge NBA fans.
I think if done right a potential College Hoops could provide a basketball alternative to NBA 2K. 2K could copy and paste College Hoops 2K8 and most of us would jump on it. But online 2K could take some risks with CH that they just cant with their cash cow NBA2K. They could maybe copy NBA Lives The One mode or have you play in different real life places like Rucker Park and stuff. They could use the NBAPA like NCAA Football 14 did with the NFLPA. In MyTeam 2K could even take a page from All Pro 2K8. Say I have my current GA Bulldogs basketball team. Thats my base team. But I can add 1 gold (or 2 bronze) NBA player cards that I buy/win and play with them online or in MyTeam. Just something different.
I dont think College Hoops could ever come close making NBA2K money, but I can see it doing better financially than it did before.
Also, I think 2K should lean heavily into the pageantry and excitement of March Madness and college life. The game should be in every bookstore in the country with custom team covers. Have the National Champions and coach on the cover. Play up being able to start your career at your favorite school playing for coaches like Calipari and Boeheim. College Hoops should be big for current basketball student athletes on campus and stuff like NCAA Football was.

I prefer the college football games, but I would welcome a college basketball if it made draft classes possible. The classes won't have foreign players though so people would still need to edit in.
I think college football just had a better atmosphere, all of the conference moving ruined that a bit in real life but the game can still be fun. College basketball is only when March Madness hits and that is like the first 1-2 weeks that are the best.Comment

They should take out the S in 2k sports
They copied EA evil greedy business practices but wont make more sports games for their portfolio like them

This is were my mind is at with it. Because we have been without so long and stuck with what EA has done over this time so I feel 2K can do something here and become the only one in the mix like they are with NBA 2K. Take College Hoops and update it to were we are today with gaming and they will have a winner everyone will be it just have it to were we can emport our classes..Comment

I do not think college basketball makes enough to justify it coming back. I hope to be wrong though, but people need to remember they stopped making college basketball games 4-6 years before NCAA Football had to stop for a reason.
Perhaps they could do a game every other year and it might be viable or just release one and just release DLC roster updates each year...not sure.
I am excited about NCAA Football returning next summer though.Comment

If anything I'd like to see 2K have classic and all-time college teams similar to what they currently do with classic and all-time NBA teams. I think they did this a few seasons ago but I'd love to see them bring it back.

Good overall list. As a UK fan I would add 1996 UK (great college team), 94 Arkansas, and maybe 99 UCONN. I know you have to draw the line somewhere though and trying to pay all these random college players might be a challenge. I love your list overall though and would love this.
With what they are doing with my Eras in MyNBA, 2K could surprise us in a few years and have a college basketball dynasty mode. I put nothing past that team at this point as far as creativity goes.Comment

Doesn't matter if it's Bush League BBALL Australia. The school names are kinda tough, but they could pick similar names, put a bunch of schools in, use the 2k engine, add in recruiting and lite management sim aspects GG.
The rolling nature of it, that it's kinda MEANT to go 25+ seasons means the players don't matter as much (imo,) but it also exacerbates the 2k bugs that appear later. It doesn't do it as bad as NBA because people go to the draft when they are high rated and they don't grow into anthony randolph the 99 overall C-PG lol.
I like building my team/brand w/e... recruiting. I like the strategy of long term management, scheduling, all of those things are pretty simple but are missing from NBA games.
Hard to see how they'd get VC from it, tho! I doubt they can do a MC college. They could, but not one that genned high lvl VC. With a story and stuff UGH. But I'd def pay 20-30-40-50(!?!) for the ability to have a college hoops 'side' to 2k. It's one of the most fun just chill games and then now that the gameplay is way more advanced (in some ways,) those late tourney games would be even more fun.

College Hoops doesn't need to make NBA2k money. It just needs to be profitable.
The vast majority of basketball fans who purchase a yearly NBA 2k would likely purchase a returning College Hoops for at least the first year of its return; If only for the novelty of it.
If you make it a tie-in game you can make it so College Hoops is basically a $70 DLC for NBA 2k.
MyNBA: Export/Import more realistic draft classes
MyPlayer: You can make it so the MyPlayer story begins in College Hoops. It would be amazing if they made it so you can choose to play a full season of the college experience storyline before you take your MyPlayer to the NBA.Comment
