Editing player names in Franchise, still broke?

I'm assuming if you edit names in Franchise either from the roster screen or editing draft classes, is still broken? Meaning, the announcers will not say their names even if common, like Jones.

I really hope it's not still broken. What were they doing if they couldn't fix something like this?

Why can't they just show a list like on WWE that shows the first and last names the announcers can say?

Exactly! It should be easy and every other sports game has the ability to check if the name is in the database. I appreciate how MLB does it where you can assign a name from the database. It's great for names that are spelled oddly but are audibly the same or similar. Like Jaxson and Jackson. Plus, this worked in Madden a few years ago on next-gen. So what happened? Not having names said really takes away from the fun of custom draft classes. I can draft Bryce Young but he'll just be "the quarterback" in game.

I'm hoping someone with early access tests this. I can't stand it when it won't say a players name, breaks immersion.

Bumping this up now that we are in wide release. I won't get into the game until late this weekend. Anyone tested this?

I drafted a rookie WR named “Jeremiah Dickerson”, who is constantly called Eric Dickerson by the announcers. I’d venture to guess they fixed nothing in regard to saying player names.

This has been an issue for a decade. They will still call players with known names by their last name. But they will screw up players with the same last name as an all-time great and refer to them as Eric Dickerson or Ladanian Tomlinson, etc.

I've been away from Madden for a few years so I'm asking this for clarification:

Are you saying that you tend to change player names in Madden because some of the drafted player names don't get said by the announcers, while others do? Or, does every generated player that's drafted get their last name said by the announcer, and you simply wanted to change their name anyway?

It’s still broke. They will say some names if you don’t edit but once you edit either the first or last name it’s a no go. Horrible I hate EA. They are the worst. There are so many new real rookies that they don’t even say their name. I hate how a lot of names of position dependent too. Like they will say Lockhart for a QB or RB but not a WR/TE. It’s ridiculous.

Yeah it's really sad most of the other sport big tent franchise games figured this edit name situation out at least 10 years ago, but Madden gonna Madden I guess SMH

Madden had it working a few years ago and seem to have deliberately changed it. Probably to prevent people from playing Madden 20 in 2022, for example.

We really need a second NFL game.

If you draft a defensive player and don’t edit their name is it said by announcers?
