I’m losing my mind! Why can’t I make substitutions and call plays in my NBA Eras?

Because your trust level with your head coach isn't high enough.

Turn trust off, or complete tasks to build trust.

Completing tasks is difficult because most tasks a head coach would give you has a deadline of end of season

Thank you! This is so stupid. So technically, I’d have to play every game of the season with my starters never being subbed until I get enough experience.

You would have to match your settings.

For example if you have trust turned on, but don't have a high enough level to make subs your self, you would need to set subs to auto. The game doesn't realize that you don't have the necessary trust to make subs when you set it to manual.

Ahhhh, okay. That makes sense! I assume the setting for subs would be attached to my profile and not a myNBA Era setting?

I'm not actually sure if coach settings changes made in myNBA would carry over into other modes like playnow.

From myNBA just go to coaching>coach settings

Anyway. I shut off trust as the whole MyGM thing is not my cup of tea.

The idea behind it is that you are not the coach but the GM.

I get why its not your cup of tea, but the lol tone isn't warranted.

When the conversation mechanic was actually working the trust system worked pretty well. I wasn't a fan of the randomness of reactions, but it all worked together pretty well. Without conversations though the only way to improve trust that I know of is to complete tasks. And sadly every task the coach has requested have been year long tasks, i.e. no chance to improve trust at all during the first regular season.
I'm sure there may be some tasks with smaller completion windows, but it seems they are the minority
