MyNBA: Can't sub players in during timeouts?

    Hey all,

Just picked up NBA 2k23 on PS5, coming from 2k22 on PC. I for the life of me cannot sub players in and out during games I'm playing in MyNBA. I used to be able to do this in 2k22. I'm sure there is some option I have set, but cannot find it.

Also, any suggestions as to fixing player morale? Seems like anything I do, I cannot get Christian Wood happy on the Mavericks. System seems kind of random.

If you are meaning in MyNBA, it is probably because you have "trust" turned on, and your trust with your HC is too low to sub/set rotations. Can you change the lineup/minutes in the coaching gameplan from the main menu, before entering the game? If that is locked, too, that is the culprit.

For right now, I believe you have to turn that setting off, because with the ability to have conversations with your HC not currently being present, I don't know how else you can build trust high enough to make subs. Morale would fall into the same boat, as far as easily increasing it. You can turn down the morale difficulty slider, until they give us the ability to counter the less "random" way it is now. I would guess that one of Wood's financial security or play for winner settings aren't being met, or he doesn't want to come off the bench. His personality might also be unpredictable, which could cause some of that randomness you are seeing. You could smooth over some of that with the conversations previously.

Trust? What the hell. Aren't we talking MyNBA? Isn't that the "sandbox" franchise mode where you can basically do whatever you want? Have never seen before that there are things that limit you from doing certain things.

It is the sandbox mode, which is why you can just turn it off if you don't like it lol.

It has the RPG elements of last gens MyGM built in, if you want to use them, or you just toggle them off, if you don't. The problem with some of the RPG elements right now is that the conversations with staff/players were left, so some parts of that, like things impacted by trust, are currently unusable. Not sure whether they were left out intentionally or will be patched back in later, but they aren't usable, right now. They were in 2k21 and 22 on the current gen, but haven't been in 23 yet. Trust also blocked rotations in 21 and 22, it was just easy to build it up through a few conversations with the coach to where it wasn't an issue after maybe the first game.

I doubt they purposely left the RPG elements out. They definitely forgot to include conversations with players and coaches, since there is an option to turn on the RPG elements when you start a new MyNBA mode. Without the conversations you can't increase morale and trust and therefore can't make certain coaching adjustments during the game. I also heard that since you can't increase your coaches morale and trust they inevitably end up quitting after one or two season. This is a HUGE issue and I'm annoyed that 2K has not addressed it.

I've sent several video and photos to 2K Support. Waiting for them to reply back to me.

That's my assumption, too. I just didn't know, for a fact, so I just worded it like that. Hopefully, it gets fixed sooner than later. I've just been playing with trust and staff quitting and things like that off, until conversations are added back.

I couldn't find a way to turn it off. Realized the system is broken after 20 games and I didn't want to restart. Is there a way to turn it off and on? I'm worried once they do fix it, we would have to restart.

You can turn off morale & trust in the options menu. After this , MyNBA mode feels like a boring "My-League" without the morale, chemistry (Another glitch i encountered) and trust system. No interactions, even with sponsors.

For a offline player, boring & totally broken as f**k....after over month of release 2K fixed nothing about this ... embarrassing ... ONLY solution: Send st**id tickets to 2K support

is this another current-gen thing that is not present on old-gen? have never seen any MyGM elements in MyLeague.

Yes. Last gen has two separate modes for MyLeague and MyGM. Current just has one called MyNBA. MyNBA combines MyLeague and MyGM, and lets you toggle on and off whatever features you want from the previous two modes for your MyNBA file. So you can play it like a straight MyGM or a straight MyLeague, or any combination of the two.

can someone confirm you were able to increase coaches trust with the RPG elements options ON in new gen? Otherwise there is absolutely no way to make substitutions without turning the RPG elements off when you begin MyNBA.

Yes, by completing tasks given to you by the head coach.

Unfortunately many (most?) of those tasks aren't short term.

Trust can work without conversations, but it is horribly imbalanced.
