Franchise Preseason Games

When you start your franchise do you play the Preseason games or sim through them? I like to play them but feel it as no real affect on progressing young players or determining who makes the final roster. Any thoughts?

Nope... I just sim through it. I jus want to hop into the action. Like you said, there really is not a true benefit to it.

I do PTM for preseason games. It allows me to get through them quickly and make decisions on backups.

I used to always play them but realized I was wasting too much time on fixing the depth charts in game lol I believe players received less XP than in regular season games (I could totally be wrong but I thought that was correct at least a few years ago?). Now I just sign close to 75 players as possible and try not to play my big name players at all on the depth chart and just sim it!

I play them all because I find they present unique challenges and situations, but this part is definitely true. This game needs to rework this depth chart system in the worst way.

I play them but shorten my quarter length to 7 minutes.

I'm more willing to play the preseason now that there's only 3 games.
when there were 4 games,
I always felt by that 4th game, I was just doing chores.
I really hope there's eventually only 2 preseason games.
this isn't baseball.
lets get into the season already and get some meaningful snaps going

I used to sim through them, but play them now because it isn't always the same schedule anymore and there are only 3 games.

I usually play through them all, just to get a feel of how my rookies & FA signees will fit in my schemes. Plus, it also gives me a chance to see who could be that breakout guy in the season.

I usually bench all my veteran guys for them and only play guys that are in their first 3 years (unless they have an overall higher than 75ish) or are just older backups that I have. Then play 1 of them just to see if someone feels like they play higher than their overall and might be worth keeping around.

I sim them, and manipulate the depth chart to give young players all the reps. i.e. if I have a rookie RG, he will be listed as RG1, LG2 and C3. Vets will be moved off the depth chart wherever possible.
