Best recent Madden?

Hey Guys,
So Ive been playing Madden 19 for the last few years and I love it.

With the servers going down soon I was wondering what you guys thought is the best madden of this decade?

I play h2h with armors sliders with 32 team control.

The best recent last gen Madden is probably 20.I don't think 21 was that bad either if I remember.Haven't played last gen 23 though.

Current gen 21 I guess imo.23 gives me too much love/hate personally.

I love 16 and liked18 fully patched last gen but they wouldn't fit your needs obviously.

The thing I dont like about the new ones are the pass rush meter and the writing on the bottom when you pass the ball telling you what kind of throw you just made.

I think 18 is best but ready to go to 19 because I’ve tried 22 and 23 and just way too many bugs and quick arcade presentations. So yeah I’d go 18 or 19 as the best.

Most people around here seem to prefer the next-gen version of M21 and/or M23. M20 had some positives going for it, but abysmal CPU play calling really brought down my experience with that one.

Purely on the field, probably PS5 / XSX Madden 23.

That allowed, I still regard Madden 20 as the most cohesive total-package Madden game of the past few years.

Madden '16 all the way. Gameplay wise to me the best. Now I haven't played 23 because of all the problems. In 16 you had receivers and defensive backs jumping for balls on their own. I just threw the pass and my WR would go for it. Depending on their skill they would make the catch. WR would dive for balls. There was gang tackling. Running looked real with weight to the players. There were refs on the field and penalties were called. Pass interference, illegal block to the back, holding, roughing the passer. I had games with 8 or more penalties being call on 1 or both teams. Having 16 to 20 penalties in a game. Wow just wow. Franchise wasn't bad either.
I don't see my WR jump and fight for the ball in 22. The defensive backs jump and play the ball, but not my WR. 1 on 1 coverage and the defense would pick it most of the time while my WR would just keep running and not playing the ball in 22.
If you have 16 still I'd say try it. I still play offline franchise with it. The graphics are really good too.

I liked 16 but I hated how the controls were messed up when on broadcast camera

No unfortunately not. Since you can no longer connect to the servers. I'm sure there is a way to get an updated file just haven't looked into it yet.

I play on the all 22 one, and at least the wind is right. Unlike now when you play 22 on all 22 the wind is opposite to what it is supposed to be.

Seems like a lot of people disagree with me, but I think next Gen Madden 22 was the best Madden since 12. It's not a perfect game but the gameplay was good and the Franchise was just deep enough for me. I honestly think Franchise in Madden 23 is slightly worse

Any of the Madden's on the PS5 or Xbox Series S/X is what I'd go with, but 23 is the best on the field, and I'd say the best of them all after all of the patches finally fixed the majority of issues. The player tags and motivations are a nice addition that aid CPU roster management. The gameplanning has been altered for the better, imo. And of course, the actual gamelay on the field is 100% second to none. It still has some legacy issues, but the player movement and blocking upgrades alone make it to where I personally cannot put a single past generation Madden near 23.

I've been one of Madden's harshest critics on this forum for years, often walking on extremely thin ice as far as a permanent ban is concerned. Lol!

So when I say I've logged more hours with next-gen M23 than with the previous six or seven Maddens combined, it's pretty serious.

I'm genuinely enjoying M23! The on-field gameplay easily makes CFM's shortcomings tolerable for me.

Animation-wise, this game looks absolutely amazing at times, especially the running game and tackling. I keep seeing new interactions all the time which keeps the gameplay fresh.

With slider adjustments (especially speed threshold) I've been able to almost replicate the explosiveness I enjoyed in the 2k football games.

So essentially, I'm getting the best of both worlds...Madden graphics with close to 2k interaction and suddeness. You can see it in the videos I've been posting. The action is pretty explosive and violent as it should be.

So yeah, among the recent Maddens, next-gen '23 easily tops the list in my opinion.
