Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
I completed my first complete game no hitter with the Mets against the Braves. Justin Verlander, Adam Ottavino and Edwin Diaz combined for the no-no. 7.2 strong innings from Verlander after reaching 119 pitches and was pulled

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
Wow that is absolutely amazing. 10 innings with Kyle Wright? or combined!?!Comment

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
10 innings with Wright. He was absolutely dialed in. I think he ended up throwing 115 pitches, but it was worth it. Craziest game I've ever played.Comment

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
I might make this a front page post at some point soon because it made me think of "realistic" things that happen but are hard as hell to pull off in video games -- I'm thinking baseball and beyond.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
I finally just threw my first one after years of being close. Michael Kopech against the A's. It was Opening Day for the White Sox in 2024. I blew the perfect game by beaning Jace Peterson with a slider in the 7th but shut the door the rest of the way.Comment

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
after 20 years, my first perfect game. first no hitter for that matter. i have played the show since the 04 game. i played triple play in the 90s and all the rest, 2k, high heat, all star, mvp. several thousand baseball games.
franchise, using Angels at home.
opponent: Washington.
pitcher: Ohtani.
final score: 1-0. ohtani HR in 5th. he is a freak of nature in the video game world as well.
i was relaxed for the most part until the 8th. almost walked the 26th batter. the final out was on a drive to the gap but renfroe made the catch semi-easily.
no real scares other than a couple 3-2 counts when ohtani was getting tired.
i still cannot believe it. it was so exciting.Comment

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
I think they fixed this particular bug but in either '20 or '21, if you play March to October and you're locked as a starting pitcher, your skipper won't take you out if you have a no-hitter going, or even a shutout I think.
And that's how Jaime Barria threw 156 pitches and 10 innings to win a game where the actual walkoff was simmed. I walked 7 batters, hit 2, but they were scattered enough that somehow the AI didn't score.
I've thrown Ohtani no-hitters, 1 Ohtani perfect game against the Royals striking out 21 in DD, but man, that was cake compared to having to use a weirdly boosted Jaime Barria, who basically ran out of energy by pitch 90. IRL he has never thrown more than 99 pitches in a game. At some point the pitches are just landing in random *** places I had no intention of throwing at (hence, the walks) but turns out if I don't know where they're going, the batter usually had it worse trying to hit it, somehow. Unexpected hangers galore! Part of me was just puzzled that they didn't build something in that made sure the "rookie" they called up didn't go 150 pitches.
Worst no hitter ever, although the Jordan Montgomery no-hitter I threw after trading for him (best option out of 3 not great options in I think '20) is up there for "score some runs before my arm falls off come on"-ness as well.
edit: Also Jordan Montgomery did throw a Maddux last season IRL if you want life imitating game.Comment

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
I remember in MLB 11 I was pitching with Buchholz. Top 9, 2 down, perfect game in sight. Johnny Damon lays down a bunt and reaches first. Didn't even finish the game I shut the PS3 off lol. I did throw a 10 inning no hitter with Carlos Rodon in MLB 17 which is still my only one.RIP G.E.A.

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
Nice. I threw my first ever in any MLB game a week ago (other than Baseball Mogul, which is a different kind of game though). My Nestor Cortes threw a 10 inning perfect game in game 3 of the WS against the Dodgers. 96 pitches. I was pissed that I hadn't scored at all I thought I was going to blow my chance at a perfect game but Nestor gutted it out for an extra inning and I got it.
I play on Veteran pitching difficulty though, it seems like most people on here play on All star or higher.Comment

Re: Just threw my first no hitter since MLB 06
I am just going to follow-up on this post with another crazy feat. I nearly pitched a perfect game with Tylor Megill against the Mariners but J-Rod hit a ball in foul territory that Pete Alonso didn't even make an effort to attack. Otherwise it was a 1-hit shutout, bullpen finished the rest of the way. SO FRUSTRATING to lose a perfect gameComment
