    Game Day Focus

I'm a little late here, but you know right before you start a game in play now on m23. They ask you what you want to focus on offense and defense.

run, short pass, med pass long pass and on D option runs, etc...

Do those things actually work or is it wall decoration?

They give small stat boosts. I can't say I ever felt their impact in the 400 hours i spent in M23.

Thank you for the response. I didn't think it did much either. I hate the idea of this system. even if it did work.... it gets in the way of true player stats.

One thing I've noticed is that when you sim on defense, the QB never throws medium or deep passes. 100% of pass attempts are categorized as "short passes" when you're making halftime adjustments. That always annoyed me.

I feel like the run inside/outside for defense does work. Passing I don't notice a difference. It's supposed to be more than a ratings boost though.

thanks for the input, men. the only other thing I've noticed is that certain plays in ur playbook will be outlined in green. As to tell you what plays to call based on ur settings. So if you focused on inside run, a lot of ur between the tackles runs will be highlighted.

I wonder if the CPU makes makes these adjustments against a human player? That would also go for the Coaching Adjustments made during the game. hummmm...

I see a lot of great tools that a user has at their disposal, but I never see the CPU take advantage of them to use against the user.

            For example
            Audibles
Playmaker control- broken play happens and u send the WR to an open area of the feild.
            ID the Mike
Double team block a stud pass rusher
Double team or spot light a stud receiver

We need the CPU AI to recognize what they can do and use these tools against a human opponent to up the challenge. Thoughts?

The CPU already uses audibles if you spam play calls too much. How quickly CPU quarterbacks start calling audibles against repeated play calls depends on difficulty setting. The CPU’s usage of audibles in the Madden 24 beta was increased relative to Madden 23. I don’t think the CPU has the ability to “can” an audible (a “can” is Kyle Shanahan lingo for a second play determined in the huddle that the offense will check to at the line of scrimmage based on the alignment of the defense).

The AI for both user and CPU teams automatically does an ID The Mike check before the start of every play based on the collective AWR ratings of the five offensive linemen. CPU teams won’t use manual Double Team calls because Madden offensive line already have and use a bunch of rules for determining which defender draws the double team in pass protection sourced from real NFL protection calls. Generally speaking the Double Team mechanic available to users is an online head-to-head contrivance available only to counter meta blitzes and setups.

I actually don’t think Receiver Spotlight works in Madden at all, for user or CPU teams.

For me, I am quite certain it is wall decoration. Even if you get +2 ratings boost for, say, man coverage, the issue is that ratings do not matter too much in this game unless we are talking a drastic difference.

                Just my opinion.

It's hard to tell but it does feel like if your choice aligns well or poorly with the opponents' in H2H then it can have an effect, especially when it stacks with momentum.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.
